As soon as you say "King of Rock and Roll", the image of Elvis Presley with his raised forelock and unique movements of his hips immediately rises before your eyes. It was he who popularized rock and roll, although in fact he was not its creator. World fame came unexpectedly to the singer. He also quickly "burned out" at the age of forty-two.
Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935. He had a twin brother, but only one of the two had a bright career and an extraordinary life. It all started with a guitar that his parents gave Elvis for eleven years. When he was thirteen, the family moved to Memphis, where the boy interacted with street musicians, played the guitar actively, performed at school concerts and listened to a variety of musical styles.
The path to glory
It was the mixing of musical directions that pushed Elvis to fame. And it was so. The guy repeatedly came to auditions for various record companies, but this did not bring results. However, the owner of "Sun Reconards" Sam Phillips, although he did not make Presley the right offer, nevertheless took note of it. And in 1954 he invited him to a rehearsal. And again he was dissatisfied with the novice artist. If I hadn't been near the musician during the break. The young man did not go to rest, he enjoyed his favorite music and decided to improvise. Elvis jokingly changed the pitch of the blues song “That’s All Right”. Colleagues supported him. Sam Phillips asked the musicians to repeat the game, and as a result, the song was recorded and played over and over on the local radio. It was a success!
This was the first, but a very steep step to the top of the world musical Olympus. During his career, Elvis Presley released 150 albums, many of them went gold, platinum and even multi-platinum. His albums, like songs, occupied the first lines of well-known charts. And in terms of the total number of sold records and CDs, it is one of the most popular, more than a billion of them have been sold.
Sunset star
But bright stars flare up quickly and fade just as quickly. By the end of his career, interest in the performer has repeatedly weakened, but then it gained strength again. Presley regularly starred in films, to keep fit, he began to take special pills. Over the past eight years, he has given 1,100 concerts, including night. And after them, the artist did not go to rest, but to have fun. Why I began to use psychoactive substances. After that, he also could not sleep without drugs. Such a frantic pace of life and an irresponsible attitude to one's health could not be in vain. But even health problems did not make the singer stop taking medications. Initially, they were prescribed by a doctor, as the artist needed them, but in the end he turned out to be dependent on them.
There were other problems as well. For example, a stomach disease that forced him to systematically cleanse his body in a hospital, glaucoma in the left eye, which caused the artist to wear dark glasses. The rooms on his estate were completely dark, the windows were carefully taped, and security cameras were installed everywhere - Presley developed a manic suspicion. And in the end, the depression intensified.
Even so, he saw no problem with drug abuse. They ultimately became the cause of the death of the King of Rock and Roll. It happened on August 16, 1977. Returning home late in the evening, as usual, he could not sleep. In addition, the day before, he was treating a tooth, which ached again. Painkillers, sedatives - and those, and other drugs Presley drank that night. In the afternoon, his girlfriend found him lying on the floor. The doctors did not manage to bring him back to consciousness. The death of the artist was pronounced at half past four on August 16. The reason was called a violation of the heartbeat. But the autopsy showed that it was precisely in the use of drugs that were not combined with each other.
The circumstances of the death seemed strange to the fans, there were a lot of rumors around them. There was too much classified information. And, of course, fans just didn't want to believe that their idol was gone. Rumors began to circulate that the King was alive. He allegedly faked his death in order to get rid of his addiction to drugs, but could not return to the stage. According to another version, the artist just wanted a quiet life and retired from the hype around his person.
Elvis Presley was buried on August 18 in a cemetery in Memphis. But restless fans, wanting to make sure of Elvis's death, tried to crack his thunder. Therefore, a few months later he was reburied. However, rumors about the living Presley and the meeting of people with the real King did not leave the press for a long time.
