Playing the guitar is inextricably linked with the use of a pick. Thanks to a small piece of plastic, the sound of the instrument becomes brighter, more saturated, the fingers are less injured. However, to master the techniques of playing with a pick, additional skill is required.

Step 1
Choose a pick according to your music style and your own hand. The most common choice is plastic, a lightweight material that does not slip in the hand, and is reasonably durable.
Try the first method to hold the pick in your hand. Take it with the side of your index finger and the pad of your thumb. In this position, on transitions from string to string, the angle between the pick and the strings changes (due to hand movements). The lower strings will have an unwanted angle.
Step 2
The position on both pads seems more natural and comfortable (and not on the edge), then practice your index finger so that the working surface is not too soft. This position is less common than the first.
Step 3
Keep your pick parallel or nearly parallel to the strings. This way you will avoid unnecessary overtones from hitting the string.
