Inspect your bass guitar carefully before purchasing. The instrument should be free of cracks, scratches, chips, rusted strings and sawn frets. The tool must be evenly colored.

Take it in your hands. The bass guitar should not be too heavy, in addition, it should be centered, that is, it should not outweigh in any of the sides.

A bass guitar can have four, five, or six strings. It should be borne in mind that the four-string version is most suitable for novice guitarists. In this case, the instrument must be fretted. Fretless bass requires certain skill and professionalism to play.

A quality guitar is always made of wood. The neck of the instrument should have mahogany inlays on the back, installed to increase rigidity.

The gap of the strings above the neck of the guitar should not be too high or too low, otherwise the quality of playing the instrument will suffer. Swipe over the strings. They should not make a rattling sound. The guitar neck must be flat and rigidly fixed, for this it is either screwed to the body with bolts or glued into it. A glued neck is more difficult to adjust, which is why many prefer bolt-on necks.

The tuning pegs should spin smoothly, without any tension, and should not wobble.
Step 8
Before buying a bass guitar, check the operation of its electronics, which can be active or passive. The operation of the electronics is checked with an amplifier connected. The passive system operates without a power source, has fewer control knobs, and has the advantage of being independent of the state of the battery, which can fail right in the middle of a performance.
Step 9
When checking the operation of the electronics, it is advisable to check the operation of the volume and tone controls. It is unacceptable if jumps or extraneous sounds appear when adjusting them.
Step 10
The color and shape of the guitar does not affect the quality of the playing and sound. The outward appearance of the tool should first of all please the future owner.
