The creation of the largest image of a human figure on our planet was completed in the summer of 2012 in England. As conceived by the authors, it should solve several problems at once - to attract tourists to a provincial British city, become a resting place for local residents and help with the disposal of waste from the country's largest coal mine.

The figure of a woman was created in the county of Northumberland in the north-west of England, near the town of Cramlington. However, this is not a sculpture, but a landscape park and the lady can only be fully seen from a bird's eye view. The image is created by flower beds, paths, hills, stone gardens and small bodies of water. It took several years and three million pounds sterling to build all this. The material was 1.5 million tons of waste rock and specially selected stones from waste located next to the park of the largest coal mine in England Shotton. According to the creators, the landscape park will change the appearance of the female figure not only with the changing seasons, but also over the years. They plan to further expand the sculpture of earth, greenery and stones, adding new waste from the mine to it.

Called Northumberlandia after the county, the artistic part of the project was directed by landscape designer Charles Jencks. The sculptural lady covers a total area of 46 acres (19 hectares), is a quarter of a mile (over 400 meters) long, about 250 meters wide, and its raised body parts rise 100 feet (over 30 meters). The total length of the walking paths, which create the main pattern, is equal to four miles (almost 6.5 kilometers).

In early autumn, September 3, Northumberlandia was inaugurated in the presence of a member of the royal family, Princess Anne. However, this event was closed to the public, and the new landscape park received ordinary visitors two days later. So far, he does not work every day - between the first working session, which lasted only 4 hours, and the next one of the same duration, three days passed. When the park is fully operational, according to the organizers, the world's largest lady will attract up to two hundred thousand tourists a year and bring at least a million pounds to the Cramlington treasury.
