All relatives called Yuri Gagarin a wonderful father. He adored his two daughters - Elena and Galina. The cosmonaut tried to spend all his free time next to his beloved family.
The world famous Smolensk boy Yuri Gagarin was remembered by people precisely as the first person to visit space. But little is known about the cosmonaut's personal life. Yuri's wife said that he was not only a brave pilot, but also a wonderful caring dad. The Gagarin family had two daughters.
Lenochka
The future cosmonaut was born into an ordinary working-class family. His parents (a carpenter and a pigsty worker) could not even imagine that little Yura would one day become famous all over the world. Gagarin survived the war and only after its end was he able to get an education.
Once, after serving in the army, Yuri and his friends went to dance at a local club. There he met his future wife Valya. Gagarin immediately liked the girl. She was modest, pretty and danced well, standing out from the crowd of other girls.
After the painting, the couple left for the North, where their first daughter Helen was born. The girl got all the attention of her father. As soon as Yuri returned from work, he immediately took the baby to him and arranged funny games with his daughter. The future cosmonaut always loved children and spent a lot of time with the neighbors' kids even in his native village. And when the beloved woman gave birth to his long-awaited "blood", and completely went into fatherhood. Valentina could not get enough of her husband. Then the woman did not even imagine what difficult life trials awaited her ahead.
Check mark
After moving to the Moscow region, where Gagarin became one of the candidates for astronauts, a second child appeared in the family - daughter Galina. True, the youngest daughter did not get so much attention from her father. No, Yuri's attitude to the family has not changed at all. He just began to disappear for days in the space detachment. Only on Gagarin's rare weekend could the family get together.
Later, Valentina said that with the advent of her husband at home, everything changed instantly. As soon as Yuri appeared on the doorstep, the girls jumped into his arms and did not get off until the next working day. The family immediately went to the park, forest, lake, fishing, friends were invited home. Gagarin invented endless games with his girls: he taught them to play football, hockey, made doll houses for them, built huts from scrap materials.
Yuri tried in every possible way to accustom his family to sports. For example, morning exercises were mandatory in their house. On the way to the courtyard, Lena and Galya woke up their neighbors and called them along to study.
On free evenings, Gagarin read books to his daughters. Most often I chose Tvardovsky and Pushkin. And, of course, he instilled in children a love for animals. At home, the cosmonaut's family constantly had animals: squirrels, birds, dogs, cats. Valentina did not oppose her husband's decisions. She understood that his joint activities with children are extremely beneficial for the girls.
Later, both girls recalled that their dad was an amazing person: kind, responsible, understanding. Everyone was amazed at his organization, thanks to which Gagarin was never late and managed to redo a huge to-do list in a day. The youngest daughter once said in an interview: "If dad were alive now, he could become a very successful person, he continued to do everything, I'm sure."
All three women were very upset by the death of the head of the family. After the death of Gagarin, Valentina never remarried. Although in his letter her husband wrote that he did not demand to be faithful to him and remain alone in the event of an unsuccessful flight.
Both Yuri's daughters became successful, as their father dreamed. They raise children and actively pursue careers. Elena works as the director of the Kremlin museum, and Galina is a candidate of economic sciences and teaches at a Moscow university.
