The mass viewer usually does not bother thinking about the quality of the translation of certain films, because for him often only the essence is important. And only true connoisseurs of cinematography think that it is translation that helps not only to capture the director's true intention, but also to fully enjoy the dialogues of the characters. Dmitry Yurievich Puchkov (Goblin) is considered one of the best Russian translation authors. He always conveys the atmosphere of the original with maximum accuracy in dialogues and monologues, complementing the context of the picture with a sparkling and original presentation.

The Big Lebowski (1998)

This picture, created at the end of the last century, is now a classic of comedy, and any person who considers himself a true lover of the cinematographer has already seen this wonderful creation of the cult directors of the Coen brothers.

The main character of the picture, a man nicknamed the Dude, is a total slacker, a hippie and a happy bachelor who one fine day finds himself in a series of all sorts of adventures that completely knock down his usual way of life. Before the hero got into an endless cycle of strange incidents, his everyday life consisted of drinking, decorating his house and playing bowling with friends who were as loafers as himself. The gangsters mistake Dude for the millionaire Lebowski, who was the film's namesake.

Wanting to rob a rich man, two bandits break into his house, demand money from the hero and spoil his carpet, which served as an important artifact in the Dude's apartment. After that, the extremely offended bachelor decides to visit the mansion of the rich man Lebowski and demand a new carpet from him.

Further, the plot of this picture takes on an absurd and fascinating character. The hero and his friends begin to fight gangsters, doing it in an extremely unprofessional manner. The film contains a stream of unintentional chaos and elements of black humor, which Dmitry Yurievich masterfully conveys in his work. It is possible that the film would not have gained such popularity in Russia if the Goblin had not taken the job.

"Lock, Stock, Two Barrels" (1998)

This is the first feature film by British filmmaker Guy Ritchie. It so happened that Richie's debut was extremely successful and now the film "Lock, Stock, Two Barrels", in the opinion of most fans, is considered the best film director in his career. When the film was first released officially, critics reacted to it very ambiguously, dubbing the picture a secondary likeness of the works of Quentin Tarantino.

But time has put everything in place, and today the work of Guy Ritchie is rightfully considered a classic of cinema. Four bosom friends, who have accumulated 25 thousand pounds each, decided that it would be good to win half a million pounds in a card game from a sharpie and the last gangster nicknamed Harry the Ax, with whom one of his friends, Eddie, should play. Naturally, this venture turns out to be unsuccessful, and the guy loses the same half a million pounds to the sharper. He was assigned a clear demand - to return the money in exactly one week. Otherwise, each member of this gang would have lost his finger.

Friends need to somehow extricate themselves from this extremely terrible situation. This is where the fun begins. The dark atmosphere of the underworld, high-quality British humor, a lot of trash and an outstanding plot - this film has all these qualities. Many fans of Goblin's translation believe that the voice acting of this film is his best work. In it, he not only once again demonstrated his talent as a translator, but also proved that the director's intention can be fully captured only when each phrase of the film's hero fully corresponds to his original remarks written in the script.

Full metal jacket (1987)

A film by a true classic and master of filmmaking Stanley Kubrick will tell viewers how coldly and cruelly the American army system prepares yesterday's boys for the Vietnam War, turning those marines into real killers who do not know pity and justice. Surely many have seen the famous excerpt from the movie "Full Metal Jacket", when Sergeant Hartman in a sufficiently convincing form makes it clear to the lined up recruits that the jokes are over, because from this moment a new life begins for them, in which they are no longer people, but "American weapons”and“messengers of death”. After this excerpt, you might think that the film will be comedic, but this is not entirely true. Through humor and irony, a dramatic and cruel background is felt, revealing all the madness and pain of wartime.

This is one of Kubrick's most important films, so every movie enthusiast must watch it. And it's best done in the correct translation from the Goblin. Despite the fact that "Full Metal Casing" is a rather old film, in his translation Puchkov adapted the dialogues of the characters to the realities of modern life as much as possible, acting as a real destroyer of stereotypes, because many film critics still believe that new translations must necessarily correspond to the time when he was the film was shot.

The Boondock Saints (1999)

American director Troy Duffy first showed this fascinating film to the public in 1999. This is a colorful crime comedy in which a divine enlightenment suddenly comes to two brothers of Irish descent. They begin to believe in what is destined for them to make a revolutionary upheaval in the whole world. The brothers believed that their mission was to completely cleanse our sinful land from all kinds of evil spirits. Connor and Murphy began to spend their days fighting for a just life, hunting vile and greedy bandits who negatively affected city life and disturbed public order. The brothers were convinced that they were doing a good deed, because "there is no greater evil than the indifference of honest people."

Desperate fans of beautiful street shootings, black humor and exciting adventures will surely like this film. The story of the two brothers will not make the viewer bored. No wonder the Goblin himself has repeatedly said in his articles and interviews that the painting "The Saints from the Bunduk" is strictly recommended for viewing to all fans of Troy Duffy's work. Dmitry Yuryevich himself admits that this film is on the list of his favorites, therefore, while performing his translation, he carefully analyzed the English-language speech of the characters, and only after that he transformed it into expressions that we understand.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

A master of dialogues and trash, a lover of female feet and black humor, a skillful thief and king of blood Quentin Tarantino in 1994 releases a film called “Pulp Fiction” and completely blows up the film industry. The iconic work was immediately praised by critics. It was for this film that Tarantino received many different awards, including the Academy Award for Best Screenplay. After all, "Pulp Fiction" is not only a wonderful film, but also a kind of symbol of independent American cinema.

In addition to being highly praised by critics, the film also quickly gained overwhelming love from fans around the world. Many still consider this work not only the most popular film of Quentin Tarantino, but also the most successful embodiment of his directorial talent. Indeed, in Pulp Fiction, he often resorted to the use of non-linear storytelling - a technique borrowed from the director of the French new wave Jean-Luc Godard. It was this author's decision that gave the film a peculiar aesthetics.

Light dialogue, black humor and a lot of trash - all this forms the basis of the film. It is recommended to watch the film only in the correct translation of the Goblin, in which there is no censorship. Otherwise, it will not be possible to catch the whole atmosphere of this aesthetically constructed chaos. In his translation, Dmitry Yuryevich took into account all the funny moments of the film, and also paid great attention to the speech portraits of the main characters.
