The spring is an integral part of many mechanisms, from hairpins to damping springs in a car. You cannot bend a spring made of elastic wire with your hands, so you need to make a special device for this.

If you need a spring of a specific diameter, make it yourself

It is necessary

  • * steel rod with a section equal to the inner diameter of the future spring;
  • * two boards;
  • * strong rope or nails;
  • * drill or brace;
  • * vice.

Instructions

Step 1

With the help of a simple device, you can wind the springs without much effort. Bend the steel bar first. It will serve as a pen for you.

Step 2

Attach the boards to each other and fasten them with a strong thread, wire, or knock them down with small nails. Drill a through hole on the side. The hole diameter must be equal to the outer diameter of the spring. You can calculate it by adding the cross-section of the steel bar and the cross-section of the wire, multiplied by two. If the tree is soft, then it is better to make a hole with a diameter equal to the section of the rod. When the wire winds up, it will blast its way.

Step 3

Drill another hole in the planks on top. Through it you will insert the wire, from which you wind the spring. Insert the rod and mark the intersection with the upper hole on it. This can be done by inserting a wire into the upper hole, the end of which must be dipped into the dye before this. Take out the rod and cut a slot in it at this point. This will allow you to secure the wire to the rod and wind the spring on.

Step 4

Insert the rod back into the hole in the planks, clamp them in a vice. Slide the elastic wire through the top hole so that it snaps into the slot on the rod. Now twist the rod around its axis using the handle - the bent end. The piece of wire-workpiece must be completely wound around the rod. The spring will pass through the bars from the end of the rod opposite from the handle. It remains only to remove the spring.

Step 5

As you can see, this method of creating a spring is quite simple and does not require a lot of effort. If you wish, you can make the planks detachable, and attach a wooden or plastic tip to the bent end of the rod, which plays the role of a handle, to make it easier to turn the handle.
