Stepan Giga is a Ukrainian musician, composer, vocalist. He was one of the founders of the Beskyd jazz-rock group. He founded an art agency and a recording studio.
Biography
Early period
Stepan Petrovich Giga was born in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine on November 16, 1959.
Since childhood, Stepan was distinguished by impeccable hearing and the purest voice, dreamed of learning to play several musical instruments. During his school years he mastered the guitar.
Having received his secondary education, Giga immediately got a job. He first became a mechanic in the agricultural machinery department, and later a truck driver.
Upon reaching the age of 18, he went to the army. He served in a construction company.
Career
In 1980 he entered the music school of Uzhgorod. It was possible to do this only from the fourth time.
In 1983 Stepan graduated from college. Immediately after that, he entered the vocal department of the Kiev Conservatory. The People's Artist of Ukraine, the head of the department KD Ogneva became his mentor.
In his second year, the musician became a soloist of the popular group Stozhary. He worked as a soloist in the opera studio of the Conservatory, under the direction of D. M. Gnatyuk.
During his studies, Stepan Giga took part in more than ten prestigious competitions. In almost all creative competitions, the lyric tenor won.
After completing his studies at the Conservatory, Stepan Giga was sent to work at the National Opera. Soon, the vocalist's mental disorder worsened. He had to return to Transcarpathia.
In 1988 Stepan Petrovich became a soloist of the Transcarpathian Philharmonic. A year later he created a jazz-rock group "Beskyd". The collective's creativity quickly gained popularity in Ukraine. The team began to be invited to the opening of major festivals. The tour was also a success.
In 1991, the jazz-rock group disbanded. Its members decided to build their careers separately from each other. Stepan Giga began writing songs, making arrangements on his own. This is what he is doing at the present time.
Giga opened the GigaRecords recording studio. On its basis, he created an art agency. Beginning musicians study there today.
Awards
In February 1998, Stepan Petrovich was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine.
In 2002 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.
In 2009, Stepan Giga became a Commander of the Order of Merit, III degree.
Personal life
Stepan Petrovich's wife's name is Nadezhda. They raised a son together. The guy is already an adult, he created his own family.
Recently, Giga Sr. became a participant in the television show "Changing Wife". Before the start of the program, he warned journalists that the filming would not affect his real family life in any way. In relations with the second half, according to the musician, complete harmony reigns. Stepan Petrovich respects the woman who gave him a son and is not going to betray her.
