Each person is unique in everything, even in computer games. For this reason, some gamers seek to optimize many games, and in particular Counter-Strike, for themselves, for their own taste. This can be achieved in several ways, one of which is the introduction of non-standard weapon models into CS.
Instructions
Step 1
If after replacing the weapon you do not start Counter-Strike and an error is issued, enter the command MP_CONSISTENCY 0 in the console, which will prohibit further model checking, without requiring you to write the command every time. Add it to the configuration, which should be located in the cstrike / config.cfg or cstrike_russian / config.cfg folder. After that, prepare (or download, if you have not done so) an archive with models.
Step 2
After unpacking the downloaded archive, you can find in it such files - models, i.e. files with the mdl extension, which are responsible for the visual display of weapons on the monitor. Each weapon must have 3 model files: the model of the weapon that is in the possession of the player, the enemy, and also the one that is on the ground. Copy all this to the C: / CStrike 1.6 / cstrike / models folder. Also, the archive must contain sound objects, i.e. files with the wav extension, which are responsible for sound effects emitted by weapons when firing, reloading, etc. Copy such files to the C: / CStrike 1.6 / cstrike / sound / weapons / folder.
Step 3
Also, the archive will contain sprites, i.e. files with the spr or txt extension, which are responsible for the picture from the weapon purchase menu. Copy these files to the C: / CStrike 1.6 / cstrike / sprites / folder. Do not forget that in Counter-Strike there are also shields that are in the same file with the weapon in the folder. Therefore, while supporting the mdl format, copy them to the C: / CStrike 1.6 / cstrike / models / player folder. Subsequently, to replace the weapon that is in your hands, replace only the mdl files, and you can leave all other types of files untouched.
Step 4
Also, when installing files, be careful not to confuse them and their location. However, when installing new weapons, the problem may arise in that you may not know where the game is installed on your computer. To find it, right-click on the game icon and select "Properties" from the window that appears. Next, in the menu that opens, click on "Find object".
