Whichever style of drawing you choose for yourself, in any technique, drawing a human figure means maintaining the correct proportions of the female and male body. Maintaining proportions allows you to create beautiful and realistic drawings that speak of the skill and professionalism of the artist. Therefore, if you decide to learn how to draw a human figure, you need to find out exactly how different parts of the human body relate to each other, and how the proportions of the female figure differ from the proportions of the male figure.
Instructions
Step 1
Draw a vertical line on a piece of paper with the top point on the top of the person's head and the bottom on the feet. Divide this line into eight parts - each part is equal to the height of the person's head.
Step 2
The widest point of the figure is equal to two whole points and one third of the width of the head. Using the created auxiliary marks as guide lines, begin to draw a human figure, taking into account all the ratios of body parts.
Step 3
The waist should always be slightly wider than the head, and the elbows should be in line with the navel. Place the lower edge of the knees at a distance of one quarter of the figure from the point of the feet, and draw the shoulders at a distance of one-sixth from the point of the crown.
Step 4
When drawing a female figure, remember that she is much narrower and more graceful than a male figure. At the widest part, the female figure is equal to the width of two heads. The width of a woman's waist is equal to the width of one head. The front of the woman's thighs is wider than the armpits, and the back is narrower. Male hips are much narrower than female ones.
Step 5
Place the navel on the female figure below the level of the waist, and place the elbows just above the navel. All these points make the female figure distinct from the male. Try drawing a female and male figure from different angles - front, back and side. This will allow you to get the most adequate idea of the proportions and their combinations.
