Everyone has seen a dragon at least once in their life: in a picture, in a film, in a cartoon, in a toy store or a souvenir shop. The dragon is a fire-breathing flying lizard, the hero of many ancient legends and tales. Dragons are magnificent and mysterious, strong and powerful. It is not difficult to draw a dragon with a pencil on paper. This can be done even by someone who categorically denies the talent of drawing.

It is necessary

pencil, eraser, sheet of paper

Instructions

Step 1

You should start drawing a dragon with the image on the right side of a sheet of paper of two circles and an oval. Now the drawn circles need to be connected to each other with two rounded lines. Thus, the future dragon will have a head and body. Next, the dragon needs to add a neck, i.e. connect the top circle to the oval with two curved lines.

Step 2

With the help of circles and ovals, you should outline the tail of the future dragon with a pencil. It should look like a caterpillar. Moreover, the links, moving away from the main oval (body), should decrease in size. All links of the resulting "caterpillar" should be connected to each other by smooth lines, top and bottom. You should get a dragon's tail. It can be made both long and short.

Step 3

Now you need to erase all the extra pencil lines with an eraser. It's time to add hind legs to the pencil dragon. They need to be drawn on both sides of the abdomen of the mythical creature. When the hind legs are drawn, of course, you should start drawing the front ones. In the figure, only one front paw of the dragon will be fully visible, while the second will be hidden by its round belly.

Step 4

Now you need to finish drawing the tip of the tail in the form of an arrow, as well as the claws on all the visible legs of the dragon. Next, the dragon should draw round eyes, the same round nostrils and eyebrows. Depending on how the dragon's eyebrows are drawn, the nature of the creature will be clear. If their inner parts are directed downward, the dragon will turn out to be gloomy and formidable, and if upward - kind and sweet.

Step 5

Now the dragon needs to draw the wings. They can be small or large, round or sharp. An important detail of the dragon's figure is its sharp teeth. And on the head, back and tail of the creature, small triangular teeth should be drawn. As it turned out, drawing a dragon with a pencil is not difficult at all.

Step 6

But such a dragon may seem too cute to you and you want to try to draw a more evil creature with powerful wings and a deadly dangerous tail. Then the Dragon hovering in the air and opening its mouth to release the flame from its mouth is exactly what you need. Start your drawing with a schematic sketch of the skeleton of a future aggressive dragon. It is rather difficult to convey in words how to draw a skeleton, but it is easy to draw by looking at the drawing.

Step 7

We begin to draw the details from the head. It is necessary to draw the skull of a mythical animal. Do not forget that the mouth should be open and you need to draw it using curves. Otherwise, the drawing will not turn out very believable. Add the eyes and sharp fangs of the dragon to the skull. If you wish, you can draw horns. You may not do them, but then you will get rather not a dragon, but a dinosaur.

Step 8

Now you need to connect the head with the neck with the body of the monster. Draw smooth lines. It is important not to forget to draw the dragon's shoulder. They will be a curved line on the body of the animal.

Step 9

We begin to design the wings of the dragon. But before that, you need to draw some kind of hand or paw of a dragon. Four bones should extend from the paw, which will later become part of the wing. Please note that the dragon will swing and the position of the bones should be as shown in the picture.

Step 10

Now we move on to drawing the legs of the animal. They need to be very strong, muscular and powerful to support the dragon's weight after landing. Also, the legs should be bent. Our dragon is in flight and with outstretched paws it would look comical. Draw the dragon's toes and don't forget the claws. They need to be large and fearsome. Draw the tail thick at its base and tapering towards the tip. At the tip of the tail, draw an ending - similar in shape to a flame.

Step 11

We return to the wings. Please note that their size must be large enough to keep this mythical creature in flight. The wing shape will be a crescent moon. At the very beginning and at the end of the wing, draw some kind of claws. Do not follow it in straight lines. Let it be torn in some places. This will make the animal even more sinister. On the outside of the wing, make two more protrusions, which will later become a continuation of the bones.

Step 12

From the bottom of the arch of the wing, draw a ragged line towards the hind leg. From the top of the front paw, draw another line to the spine as shown in the figure. Don't try to make the edge of the wing too smooth, draw as if the dragon had been in battle and had torn its wings a little. Also draw the endings of the bones on the outside of the wing. The bone should end with a well-defined claw. Make light strokes to add texture to the wing.

Step 13

Draw the second wing. It will be a little narrower than the first one as it is behind it. You can not only make ragged edges on the wings, but also draw small holes. Decorate your dragon with an excellent and terrifying mane, which can become additional protection in battle with other monsters. It will not be superfluous to paint on the wounds on the neck and body of the animal. Optionally, you can draw horns for the dragon. In dragonology, it is believed that a male dragon will have a mane all over the spine and have horns. The female, on the other hand, will have a wavy mane, a blunt muzzle and softer features.

Step 14

In the last step, sketch out the animal's chest. As a rule, this is the most unprotected place. It has a lighter shade and striped pattern. Remove all unnecessary lines with an eraser and your mythical dragon is ready. Optionally, you can paint on the flames escaping from the mouth of this terrifying and domineering beast.
