Step 1
Prepare the materials you need for the job. Choose whether you will draw from life, from a photograph or from memory. In the latter case, think about the pose in which your model will be drawn. If you are drawing from a living person, give him a comfortable and beautiful pose. Place the sheet vertically or horizontally, depending on the pose. With a simple pencil, start sketching.
Step 2
Sketch the main lines of the figure - the line for the back, arms and legs. Give them the right direction. Then "build up" geometric shapes on the line. Start with the torso, which is marked with an oval, then outline the round head. Mark the limbs with elongated ovals. After that, check the proportions of the body, the ratio of arms and legs, how many times the head is deposited in the body, and so on.
Step 3
Begin to make a refined drawing of the body lines. Don't try to draw a straight, continuous line, draw with light quick strokes, editing and refining the direction of the line in place, without using an eraser. Refine the shape of the head and outline the hair. Then move on to the shoulders and chest. Gradually descending through the body from head to toe in the drawing, finish the clarifying work. Use the eraser to edit the direction of the lines, erase also the auxiliary drawing.
Step 4
Sketch and paint parts of the face. For an accurate drawing, draw a mid-vertical line on the face, then a horizontal line for the eyes, nose, and mouth. Pay attention to the chest pattern. At this stage, you can start with light shading and add volume to the body with the help of light and shadow. If the model is lying, then the darkest shadow will be below it.
Step 5
For further drawing with a pencil, you can resort to shading with a piece of paper. Also edit the drawing with an eraser, which you can use to draw on the shaded lines like a pencil. Emphasize, sharpen the lines in the foreground of the drawing.
