Visual and tangible examples make learning more interesting. To help your child enjoy learning letters, make some DIY tutorials. So classes will turn into a game even at the stage of creating a hand-made alphabet.
It is necessary
- - cardboard;
- - plywood;
- - foam rubber;
- - the cloth;
- - scissors;
- - linoleum;
- - eraser;
- - stationery knife.
Instructions
Step 1
For toddlers who like to touch and taste all the surrounding objects, make letters out of plywood. Print out the alphabet of the simplest style on the printer, cut out the letters. Use these sheets as a stencil - trace the outlines of the letters on the plywood. Saw out each letter separately, sand the edges around the entire perimeter with fine sandpaper. To add color, line the craft with a brightly colored cotton fabric. For softness, you can put thin foam rubber under the fabric.
Step 2
If you don't feel like messing around with tough materials, make a cardboard guide. You will need hardcover cardboard. Cut it into equal sized squares. In the center of each, draw a letter. There should be at least 2 cm from the outline of the letter to the edges of the square. Using a paper cutter, carefully cut the letters along the outline. Use a metal ruler to keep the lines straight. Guide the knife lightly, without strong pressure. Draw each line several times, until you have cut through the entire thickness of the cardboard. Take out the cut letters and put them in a separate box. When you teach the alphabet with your child, ask them to insert letters in the outlines that suit them. To make this tutorial more interesting, use the material in different colors.
Step 3
For children who have already mastered the names of letters, stamps can be made. Then the child will be able to apply knowledge in creativity, decorating homemade postcards and drawings with individual letters or whole phrases. For such crafts, you can choose a more complex, decorative font. There are many ways to create a stamp. For example, you can cut letters from pieces of old linoleum or a mouse pad. Stick the letters on film jars or bottle caps.
Step 4
Erasers are suitable for these purposes. Draw a letter with a pen, and then use a stationery knife to cut the layer of erasure outside the letter. It should rise 3-5 mm above the cut layer. Ask your child to put together a whole word or phrase from letters. Apply them to a rubber wallpaper roll and use the craft to decorate your creative work.
