Step 1
Come up with a theme for your category. Avoid platitudes and discussion of common truths. Also, you should not tackle the so-called problemoids - far-fetched problems or questions that have no answer (from the category of "what came first - a chicken or an egg"). Analyze competing publications of the media in which the rubric will be published. You can argue with opponents in your column, choosing the same topic as theirs, or try to attract a completely different group of readers by creating a column that has no analogues yet.
Step 2
Calculate the frequency of the heading. It does not have to coincide with the frequency of the publication itself. If you have chosen a serious topic that requires thorough research and deep analysis, you can rarely appear with it on the pages of a magazine or newspaper. If the material is really deep and interesting, the reader will be busy thinking it over exactly until the next time the heading is published.
Step 3
Determine your audience type. This can be a part of people who are already reading the publication (for example, you can create a heading for young mothers in a magazine addressed to women in general) or a segment of society that will pick up a magazine / newspaper for the first time just for the sake of your section. The portrait of the reader should be as detailed as possible: it is important to know his age, gender, social status, hobbies, political views, etc. Without losing sight of the rest of the parameters, drown exactly the ones that are related to the topic of your column.
Step 4
Consider the above characteristics when choosing the style and language of presentation in the texts that will appear in the section. The language should be adequate to the assigned tasks and at the same time understandable to the reader.
Step 5
Determine your preference for illustrations for the heading. If you want to see highly artistic photos, make sure you have a qualified photographer in or out of the state. If you need live drawings, ask the editor for help in finding an illustrator. To accompany texts with complex schemes, you will need not only an expert in computer graphics, but also a consultant "assigned" to him on the chosen topic.
