Women always want to look charming, wear the most beautiful, elegant dresses. And if the figure allows, then a shortened cut in order to once again demonstrate your beautiful and slender legs. But a beautiful mini-dress is not so easy to pick up in a store for a figure, especially a non-standard one (it squeezes in the hips, then sags in the bust). Have you ever thought that you can make your dreams come true by sewing dresses at home on your own? Plus it's much cheaper.

It is necessary

Tracing paper, pencil, ruler, centimeter, fabric, invisible zipper, threads and scissors, sewing machine

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you need to make a pattern for the planned dress. To do this, ask someone to help you take measurements. The pattern is best reduced to tracing paper. The sewing complexity depends on the style. If you are not a very experienced dressmaker, then initially choose a simpler model. Cut and sewing magazines now usually indicate the degree of complexity of each product. A simple little sheath dress or a summer T-shirt dress is always in fashion, and the complexity of sewing is minimal.

Step 2

Look at the standard parameters for your size in the magazine. It is possible that your waist and hips will be in different sizes. In this case, when transferring the pattern to tracing paper, correct the drawing yourself. But the dress will then sit on your figure like a cast one.

Step 3

Choose the fabric to your taste and color. The fabric must be washed, dried and ironed before opening. Transfer the selected pattern to the material and cut out the parts with a seam allowance.

Step 4

Baste all seams on the machine with the largest step (stitch) with contrasting threads and try on. First, darts on the bodice and at the waist are swept away. Then all the other seams. If your dress has sleeves, they must be sewn at the seams and swept into the armhole. The shoulder cuts of the sleeves will seem to you much larger than the size of the armhole (if you are not familiar with the basics of sewing). This is not a cut error. It is just that the sleeve in the shoulder area must be fitted, i.e. Slightly smoothen when sewing for a good fit on the sleeve.

Step 5

When trying on, outline the hem of the dress. The wrong length can ruin the whole impression of the outfit. Try on the dress with the shoes you intend to wear it with. And check the length again. Very short and very pretty are not the same thing. Remember this if you want to shorten the length. Remove extra centimeters in volume, fit the dress to your figure. A short, tailored circuit board is like your second skin. Therefore, all cut lines must be perfect and the seams must be very even.

Step 6

After all the "adjustments", start sewing "on white". All seams are sewn with a constant stitch in the same sequence - darts, side seams, sleeves. Then all the basting is removed. After sewing the darts, they must be ironed out immediately. If your dress has a zipper, it is sewn in first. The seams are sewn and ironed. At the sleeves, the side seams are first sewn, then the sleeves are hemmed and sewn into the armhole.

Step 7

The next step is to hem the bottom of the dress and baste the hem with a blind stitch. If the model allows, you can machine stitch the hem.

Step 8

And the last thing is the neck treatment. Depending on the style, you need to choose a facing or inlay for processing. If you are sewing an easy option - a T-shirt dress, then you can do with an oblique inlay. If your style requires reinforcement of the neckline, choose a welt. Reinforce the trim cut out in advance with dublin, sew it to the neck with the front sides. Then turn to the wrong side, sew and iron. You can stitch along the edge of the neckline if the style permits. A short dress is ready especially for you.
