It is advisable to knit berets from thick yarn so that the shape of the finished product is better preserved. You need to knit strictly in size. The approximate yarn consumption will be 100-120 grams. The bottom of the beret is knitted, gradually decreasing the loops.

It is necessary

  • - yarn;
  • - knitting needles.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a measurement from the baby's head. Cast on the knitting needles the required number of loops on the basis that 10 centimeters of the knitted fabric will be 20 loops.

Step 2

Start knitting with the selected pattern and knit 3-5 centimeters with a straight cloth to girth the head. You can make a lapel so that the finished product will warm the ears. The lapel can be knitted both with an elastic band (if the beret will be without tying the edge), and stocking knitting (if you plan to make a strapping).

Step 3

Start knitting the bottom of the beret: its radius will be about 6-8 centimeters. To decrease the loops, knit them in two together at equal intervals. In each front row, decrease to 8 loops.

Step 4

To make the bottom of the beret even, after tying half of its height, begin to decrease the loops more often (in other words, the number of loops that have been reduced increases).

Step 5

Form the pattern for the bottom of the beret. It can be knitted with a stocking pattern, lobe or transverse stripes.

Step 6

To knit the bottom with a stocking pattern, divide all the loops on the knitting needles into 8 sectors and in each front row knit two loops together at the border of these sectors. Thus, the roundness of the shape and the hosiery pattern itself will be formed.

Step 7

To knit a lobe pattern, first reduce the loops in the purl strip at the rate of 8 loops in the sector, and then go to the elastic band. Thus, decrease all loops.

Step 8

The bottom of the beret, formed by the transverse stripes, knit by decreasing the loops through the front row, 16 loops in a row.

Step 9

From the initial number of loops dialed on the knitting needles, evenly subtract half and knit three centimeters with the selected pattern. Then again evenly reduce half of the remaining loops on the knitting needles and knit the remaining loops with an elastic band, alternating the front and back loops. The height of the knitted elastic should be about 2-3 centimeters.

Step 10

After decreasing all the loops, close the remaining 8-10 loops with a needle. Beret sew with a knitted seam.

Step 11

Crochet the edge of the finished beret in three to four rows with single crochets. If the beret was tied with a lapel, then crocheting is not necessary.

Step 12

Wet the finished product and let it dry to shrink. Decorate the beret with a pom-pom.
