Working gloves are necessary not only at the construction site, but also simply on the farm. Sometimes women have to use such mittens, but the sizes of models on sale are often suitable only for a wide palm of a man. However, work gloves are not difficult to sew at home. In this case, you can choose the appropriate fabric and thickness, as well as make mittens according to the size of your hand.
It is necessary
- - fabric for mittens;
- - ready-made patterns or cardboard for their manufacture;
- - sewing machine.
Instructions
Step 1
Select material for sewing gloves. It can be dense fabric (jeans, broadcloth, tarpaulin, leather) or softer (cloth, split-velor). If you want to sew warm mittens, you will also need insulation (synthetic winterizer, batting, fur). If you don't have a lot of fabric, then you can combine it - this is how sometimes very interesting and practical models are obtained.
Step 2
Make a template if there is no ready-made pattern. To do this, circle your hand on thick cardboard and add 1.5 cm for the freedom of fit and 1 cm for the seams. On the finished pattern, consider whether the manufactured model will not be too large or too small. Adjust the finished pattern to fit your hand.
Step 3
Place the mitten pattern on the fabric and outline with chalk or pencil. If there is not enough fabric, combine several pieces, not forgetting the seams. In order not to get confused, you can first cut out a mitten for one hand, and later make the second. If you cut all the parts at once, put chalk markers of different colors on the parts for the right and left hands. Remember - the parts nested inside for warm gloves should be slightly smaller.
Step 4
Sew the cut pieces on the machine and trim off excess fabric at the seams. Turn the mitten right over. Fold and stitch open hem or overcast. If the fabric is very dense, you can tape it over the edge.
Step 5
For winter models, you will need to make 4 mittens for each pair. Two will be made of thick fabric, and two will be made of insulation. Grind the details from the insulation and, turning them inside out, put them in the blank of the upper part. If you plan to hang mittens on a hanger, make eyelets. For eyelets, a braid or tight lace is suitable. Sew a loop to the edge of the mitten opposite the thumb. So it will not interfere with your work. Neaten or tape the open bottom of the mittens.
