Every year, TV screens show which animal according to the Eastern calendar is a symbol of the coming year. In accordance with this information, many give New Year's souvenirs. This year it's time to make those around you happy with toy cockerels.
According to the Eastern calendar, the year of the Rooster is coming, and this is very good, since a toy cockerel can be very easily made with your own hands, for example, from felt.
multi-colored felt, material for stuffing toys (cotton wool, filling from an old pillow is also suitable), two small beads or buttons, scissors, threads, a needle, a piece of narrow braid or satin ribbon.
1. Cut two identical heart-shaped pieces out of white or beige felt. From orange, blue, green, purple and yellow felt, cut out hearts three times smaller for the tail of the cockerel (see diagram below). Also cut out small hearts (3 pieces) from red felt for the beard and comb of the cock, as well as two larger hearts for the wings. Cut the beak out of yellow felt in the form of a small triangle.
2. Sew on the middle of each white piece red hearts folded in half (see photo) and small black buttons or beads (where the eyes of the toy should be).
3. Fold the main white parts with the wrong side to each other, insert the details of the tail, nose, beard and comb between them to make a toy like in the photo. Pin off all parts with pins. Sew gently with white threads by hand on the body of the cockerel along the edge. Try to sew small stitches to secure all the details. Remember to put some padding in the toy before finishing the seam.
4. Sew on a small piece of ribbon, folded in half, with a pair of discreet stitches.
The felt cockerel is ready! Use this toy as a Christmas tree decoration or keychain. Make more of these felt cockerels to please your friends with an original addition to a New Year's gift.
