The canopy on the crib is not only a tribute to fashion, but also a comfortable canopy that can perform several functions. Currently, there is a fairly large assortment of canopies on sale, with a wide variety of shades (usually gentle pastel colors), made from fabrics of various textures: from simple chintz to organza. Hence, the price of the product fluctuates. However, you can completely independently sew a canopy on a crib at home with little financial, physical and time costs.

Main fabric for sewing (4.5-6m), lace or sewing, satin wide ribbon, sewing threads

Instructions

Step 1

We determine for ourselves the purpose of the canopy. If it is assumed that it will perform only an aesthetic function (and the beds really look very beautiful), then almost any light fabric will do, even transparent (tulle, organza, light silk, taffeta). But if the canopy is initially necessary not only for decoration, but also for shading from bright light or sunlight, then in this case it is advisable to choose opaque fabrics (denser silk and even ordinary chintz).

Step 2

In order for the canopy to have beautiful folds, it is necessary to take a sufficient amount of material. In addition, it is necessary to take into account its length. The height of the ready-made mount for the canopy is 75-100 cm. Given these data, the most optimal canopy is 150-200 cm long. In this case, its length will reach approximately to the middle of the legs (or drawers) of the crib. The length can be increased if desired.

Step 3

The canopy is approximately 4 m wide to create a beautiful drape. Also, an additional supply of fabric will allow you to freely cover the sleeping child from the light. Considering that usually the width of the fabric is 145 cm, then it is necessary to take 3 lengths of fabric on the canopy, the panels of which will have to be sewn. Some fabrics are measured in running meters, so you can immediately purchase 150-200 cm of fabric of the required width (4-4.5 m).

Step 4

Choosing a canopy finish. It can be lace, sewing, or just ruffles. For a small child, it is preferable to use sewing on a cotton base. The sides of the canopy canopy can be slightly rounded if desired.

Step 5

To sew the canopy on the crib, put one side of the canvas in front of us, apply lace and sew with a zigzag stitch passing one vertical side, the bottom and the other side. If necessary, lace or sewing can be first swept and then sewn on a typewriter.

Step 6

We turn the upper edge of the canopy by 1, 2-1, 5 cm and sew with a straight line so that there is a small gap in the middle, since metal rods will be inserted through it, on which the canopy is held.

Step 7

You can decorate the canopy with a large, trimmed with lace or bow sewing. Also, the bow can be made from satin ribbons that match in color. We string the resulting canopy onto metal rods, which we then insert into a hollow rod attached to the back of the bed. We decorate with a bow and hang toys if necessary. A cozy house for the baby is ready.
