An indispensable attribute of winter is beautiful snowflakes. An unusual snowflake can be "grown" at home using a minimum of ingredients. Children will especially like the process of "growing" a homemade snowflake, although the result will pleasantly surprise not only kids, but also adults. How to make a snowflake from salt?
It is necessary
- 1. Half-liter glass jar,
- 2. Salt,
- 3. Hot water,
- 4. Long thread,
- 5. Fuzzy wire or toothpicks and woolen thread.
Instructions
Step 1
Pour about 2/3 of the volume of hot water into the jar. Add some boiling water to the bottom first, then add all the remaining water. If you add hot water right away, the jar may burst.
Step 2
Add salt gradually to the water, stirring well. It will take about 18 tbsp. spoons. This should result in a highly concentrated saline solution.
Step 3
Tie the pieces of fluffy wire together to form a snowflake. If there is no such wire, use toothpicks wrapped in any fluffy thread. A fleecy surface is necessary for salt crystals to adhere to it.
Step 4
Secure the snowflake with a long string. Dip the blank into a jar of saline so that the entire surface of the snowflake is inside, and the thread remains outside.
Step 5
Place the jar on the windowsill and watch. After about 12 hours, the salt will begin to crystallize. A white fluffy bloom will appear on the surface of the snowflake. It takes 3-4 days for the maximum number of crystals to form.
Step 6
Gently remove the snowflake from the jar by pulling on the string. Lay it down to dry completely. The wonderful transformation is completed, the unusual salt snowflake is ready! Use it as an original Christmas decoration, the snowflake will not crumble for a long time.
