Step 2

Most of the time you will have to stand while doing the stunt, so a low BMX sports bike is most comfortable for them. Determine which foot will be the leading while riding, and then get used to making all the turns on the bike on the leading foot.

Step 3

Before learning simple tricks, learn to balance by applying the front or rear brakes. When you are confident in your balance while standing on your bike, try holding the brakes and lifting the front wheel off the ground, sharply shifting the center of gravity back.

Step 4

Straighten your arms while lifting and try to jump on the rear wheel. When you start to get it right, try jumping forward on the wheel and then backward, keeping yourself from falling. For these jumps, stand on your rear wheel and kick the pedals back a third, then release the rear brake lever and jerk with your dominant foot by cranking the pedal.

Step 5

Re-lock the rear brake. To jump on the front wheel, do the same, but apply the front brake.

You can also ride the rear wheel - this trick is called "Willie". In order for the trick to work, you need to master the simpler trick described above. Balance on the rear wheel, lifting the front wheel off the ground, and then, with low grip, standing over the saddle, transfer your weight to the handlebars and get upright. Try to ride forward on the rear wheel, and in order to lower yourself into a normal position, shift your body weight forward.

Step 7

A more difficult trick is the "front Willie" trick, where the ride is on the front wheel. This trick is quite dangerous, and you only need to master it when you reach a certain level of professionalism.
