Jalapeno pepper is a pungent fruit or, as it is called in another way, chili, which reaches 5 to 9 cm in length. This plant is native to Mexico, it is there that it is cultivated. Even the name "jalapeno" comes from the city of Jalapa, where it is traditionally grown. This plant can also be planted in your personal plot, the main thing is to follow the basic rules and recommendations.
Instructions
Step 1
Seed preparation. Initially, prepare the seeds for planting (you can purchase them from your specialty store). To do this, prepare a weak solution of potassium permanganate and moisten a cotton pad (gauze) in it. Place the seeds on it and cover them. Store them in a warm place for 2-3 days, making sure that the cotton pad (gauze) is always slightly damp.
Step 2
Seedling preparation. Sow seeds in the spring - from March to April. This is the ideal period for good germination. Please note: seedlings grow for 50-70 days. Prepare small seed boxes in advance. You can purchase the soil ready-made for vegetable crops, it contains the optimal content of all the necessary components. You can also prepare it yourself. To do this, mix 0.5 parts of sand with peat, 1 part of soil, 2 parts of humus. Add 2 cups of ash to a bucket of this mixture. Mix all components thoroughly and place in prepared seedling boxes.
Step 3
Planting seeds. Sow the seeds not deeply - 1-1.5 cm. Water them a little immediately after planting. Peppers are very heat sensitive, so cover the boxes with glass or plastic wrap. Remove the container with seedlings in a warm place, but not in direct sunlight, otherwise it will die. Ventilate your seedlings 2-3 times a week so that moisture does not accumulate and get on the seedlings. As soon as 2-3 leaves appear on each plant, plant them in a larger container, thinning and removing weak shoots. Do not forget about watering. It should be regular but moderate.
Step 4
Planting seedlings in open ground. The most suitable time for disembarkation is from May to June inclusive. When planting, leave small aisles - 40-45 cm. As soon as the plant reaches a height of 12-15 cm, pin the growing point, while leaving a few side shoots. Since the ideal temperature for growing jalapeno peppers is 25-30 degrees, it is advisable to set up a greenhouse.
Step 5
Top dressing. 2-3 times a season the pepper must be fed with fertilizer. To do this, you can dilute manure with water in a ratio of 1:10 or purchase a special mixture "Stimul". Also, an ash solution is perfect for these purposes (1 glass of ash per bucket of water).
Step 6
Harvesting. Harvest jalapeno peppers green starting in the second half of July. It is during this period that it fully matures and is ready for use.
