Car radio is the main, irreplaceable means of communication. To properly connect the walkie-talkie yourself, you must follow all the basic installation rules.
Instructions
Step 1
First select a suitable location for the transceiver. It should not be located in the path of the air flow of an air conditioner or heater. Use the mounting bracket to mark the mounting screw holes. It is important to provide methods for protecting the radio station from theft (protective curtains, removable skids, panel cut-out).
Step 2
Before drilling the holes, make sure that you do not hit the vehicle's power wires.
Step 3
Connect the power wires of the radio directly to the battery terminals. Both "plus" and "minus" wires must be connected. Use copper wires with a diameter of 2-4 mm. Route them along the vehicle body using the shortest route from the battery to the transceiver.
Step 4
Choose an optimal location for the antenna. Installation on the roof in the center of the cab will be better and more correct. Next, run a cable from the antenna to the radio, which is usually sold as a kit and often has a soldered connector in case you need to shorten it.
Step 5
After complete installation of the radio set, it is necessary to check the output power and SWR using the SWR meter by short-term switching on of the radio station for transmission. It must correspond to the one indicated in the passport, and the SWR should be close to one. If there are any discrepancies, adjust the antenna. If you cannot independently match the wavelength with the antenna length, you should contact a specialist.
Step 6
Check the sound quality. To do this, ask to rate the installed radio station from another radio station that operates in the same range. If deficiencies are found, contact your dealer or installer for assistance.
