Everyone can feel like an artist and try their hand at sculpture. For aspiring sculptors who dream of realizing their creative ideas, simple materials for work, such as plaster, are best suited. Due to its plasticity, ease of processing, ease of use, gypsum can be called a universal sculptural material. All you need to create a plaster sculpture is to prepare the mold in which you will make the casting.
Instructions
Step 1
Think over the model of the future sculpture and make a shape from sculptural plasticine. Use a plank as a base for the mold. Modify the plasticine form until it acquires the desired appearance and relief. Due to its plasticity, plasticine allows you to create a variety of shapes an unlimited number of times and correct mistakes made in modeling. Having finished making the plasticine mold, prepare for the plaster casting.
Step 2
Gently press the thin copper foil into the plasticine mold so as not to spoil the relief, so that later the product does not stick to the mold. Dilute gypsum in the required proportion with water, and then mix it thoroughly, avoiding the appearance of lumps, to the consistency of liquid sour cream.
Step 3
Take a brush and apply the first layer of plaster on the mold with a brush, making sure that no air bubbles form on the relief. Then pour in the remaining gypsum, pouring in the second and third layers in succession, waiting for the first layer to harden slightly.
Step 4
If you are making a large piece, wait for the intermediate layers to harden and place a metal copper mesh between the layers, which will strengthen the piece. Fill the mold completely with plaster and wait until the plaster has completely hardened and hardened.
Step 5
After half an hour, carefully remove the plasticine form from the product. Wait for the final drying of your sculpture and correct its appearance with a fine sandpaper and a file - remove irregularities, sand the surface of the sculpture. Now the sculpture can be varnished or painted.
