It is very interesting to catch pike in the fall. But where is the best place to go fishing?
It is better to choose reservoirs away from places inhabited by humans. The pike prefers to hunt where the current is small, or just in quiet backwaters. You should first find out if there are pits, driftwood on the reservoir, it is there that the pike can watch for prey, or hide from danger.
It happens that a pike in search of food can swim near the coast or, conversely, in places with a fast current. In the fall, the pike needs much more food than in other times of the year, as it builds up fat. You can catch it until the very frost, until a crust of ice forms near the coast.
In autumn, the water in reservoirs at depth and on the surface becomes approximately the same temperature, as the surface is cooled due to gusty winds and cold rains. The pike throws itself on almost any bait and in any place. This is due to the fact that the fish is distributed throughout the river and it is more difficult for the pike to feed. If the river is small, then algae and other food for the pike is not enough, and they swim out of their habitats hungry in search of food. Then it is not difficult to catch them, while the pike jumps over the surface of the water, trying to catch any fry.
It is fascinating to catch a pike on a spinning rod, it swallows almost any bait. It can be a spoon or a vibrotail. However, one should not forget that on one pond it is possible to catch a pike with a wobbler, and on the other - with a "turntable". There are no general rules on where and what is better to fish. Each reservoir has its own characteristics. If in the summer it is possible to catch it with live bait, then in the fall this method is not reliable. In the autumn, the pike is constantly in search of food, so it is difficult to calculate its location.
Lures can catch much more fish than live bait. The main thing is to choose the right color of the spoon. In some reservoirs, pikes are caught with bright baubles, in others - with faded ones. In any case, the angler should always have with him a set with different lures, which will differ in shape, size, thickness and act according to the circumstances.
When choosing a spinning rod, you should pay attention to the following factors:
- The stiffer the rod, the greater the distance the larger bait can be cast.
- Preference should be given to a spinning reel.
- The "braid" with a diameter of 22 mm has proved itself to be excellent.
- It is advisable to use a tungsten leader.
Remember that the largest pike are caught in the fall. We wish you good luck and a big catch!
