The cords used in handicrafts for shoulder straps, belts, handles or simply for decorating clothes are made in different ways, one of them is weaving on a "doll".

It is necessary

  • • Yarn of any composition, the required thickness is selected empirically.
  • • "Doll" - a special device that has 4 brackets at the top and a through hole.
  • • Wooden knitting needle included in the set. If not, any small bamboo or wooden knitting needle is less convenient.

Instructions

Step 1

First, you need to pass the end of the thread through the hole in the device and leave 8-10 cm free.

Step 2

Now we will make the initial row - we wind the thread around the first staple counterclockwise, then around the 2nd, etc. until we get around everything.

Step 3

We proceed directly to weaving. We take the knitting needle that is included in the set. We stretch the working thread (coming from the ball) in front of the first staple, insert the knitting needle from top to bottom into the loop on the bracket and throw it over the working thread and the bracket inward. We made the first loop!

Step 4

Turn the pupa by ¼ to the next bracket and repeat the previous point. So we proceed until we weave the cord of the required length.

Step 5

As soon as weaving becomes difficult due to the accumulated fabric, pulling on the tip from below, this not only advances the cord, but also helps to align the loops.

Step 6

When the cord is braided, you need to cut the thread, leaving 8-10 cm, remove the loops from the staples and pull the cord from the bottom. We fasten the open loops by passing the end of the thread into them, tighten and make a knot.
