How to knit a row correctly

The main knitting element is a loop. It is formed from a bent and tightened thread. The hinge consists of two parts: right (front) and left (back). There are facial and purl loops.

The set of loops on the left knitting needle or on four knitting needles forms a row. Knitting is carried out by interlacing the loops with two knitting needles to obtain a periodically repeating pattern.

Knitting begins with a set of loops of the first row as the basis of the fabric. The first row is knitted from the loops dialed on a knitting needle with a knit, purl or elastic band.

Two knitting needles

When knitting with two knitting needles, the loops of the row are tied together. The rows are knitted sequentially one above the other. All loops of the last row or part of them are closed if necessary.

When knitting in rows, the fabric has two edges. Loops are knitted from right to left. When the row ends, knitting is turned the other side and the next one begins. In this case, one side of the canvas is front, and the other is the wrong side.

Circular knitting

Circular knitting is characterized by the absence of edge loops. The loops of the first row are distributed over four needles. They are knitted with a fifth or round knitting needle. In this case, the knitting always goes on the front side. The rows are arranged in a spiral.

Knit correctly

In order for the knitted fabric to turn out smooth, with a good edge, it is necessary to observe the correct position of the hands during the knitting process. They should be bent at the elbows and pressed closer to the body. The way of holding the thread also affects.

The ball is placed on the left side. The thread should run between the small and ring fingers of your left hand. Then under the middle finger of the same hand from the inside of it. Next, the thread is wound 1-2 times around the index finger.

A knitting needle is held in the right hand, which is inserted into the loops of the left knitting needle. In this case, the middle and index fingers of the left hand hold the canvas and move the loops of the left knitting needle to its right end. To make the loops even, the ends of the knitting needles should look no more than two centimeters from the canvas.

Edge hinges

The extreme loops of the row are edging. The edge of the blade can be both flat and serrated. It depends on the execution of the edge loops.

An even edge will turn out if the first loop of the row is removed without knitting, and the last one is knitted with a purl.

To remove the loop, insert the working knitting needle into it from right to left and transfer the loop to the knitting needle. The thread rests on the left index finger.

The scalloped edge is done in the same way, but the last loop of each row must be knitted with the front one behind the front wall.
