The International Venice Film Festival in 2012 will hit 80. Founded in 1932 on the initiative of Benito Mussolini, it has been held annually on the Italian island of Lido since 1934. The periods of 1943-1945 and 1973-1978 were periods of "silence", during these years the festival "rested". So, from August 29 to September 8, 2012 the 69th Venice Film Festival will take place.

The largest video portal YouTube, together with the organizers of the Venice Film Festival, has launched its own international competition called Your Film Festival. Absolutely everyone could take part in it. To do this, it was necessary to post your work on the site from February 2 to March 31, 2012. The only condition is that the film must be no longer than 15 minutes in length.

Of all the short films, Tony & Ridley Scott's Free Scott Productions have selected the 50 best. Then, according to the results of an open user vote, 10 finalists were selected, who will "go" to the festival. They are short films from the UK, USA, Portugal, Brazil, Spain, Lebanon, Bolivia, Australia and Egypt. These tapes will be shown in Venice on September 2, but you can see them already on the official page of the Your Film Festival competition.

The 69th Venice Film Festival itself starts on August 29th. The festival is opened by the Indian painting "Reluctant Fundamentalist" by Mira Nair. The closing of the festival is scheduled for September 8, and the final film will be the drama "The Man Who Laughs" by French director Jean-Pierre Amery. The main role of the "laughing" person is played by Gerard Depardieu. A total of 50 full-length films will be presented, including the Russian "Treason" by Kirill Serebrennikov.

The winner of the short film competition will be announced on 3 September. The creator of the best short film will receive not only a grant of $ 500,000, but also the opportunity to create a new masterpiece in cooperation with Scott Free Productions. In the work on the new film, the winner will be assisted by the famous director Ridley Scott and the equally famous actor Michael Fassbender.
