The shape of the dolphin's body is quite simple, so the animal is easy to draw when it is above water or completely submerged. When the dolphin is only partially immersed in it, the artist faces a more difficult task. It is necessary to convey the distorted outlines of the waves of the dolphin and the glare of light on its body.

It is necessary

  • - paper;
  • - the pencils;
  • - paints;
  • - brush.

Instructions

Step 1

Divide the space of the sheet in half with a horizontal line. Divide the right side below this axis into three equal parts and mark the second of the segments with short strokes.

Step 2

Draw an arc from the middle of the left side of the sheet to the top of the selection on the right. Parallel to this line, draw another one below - this is the dolphin's belly. Check if you have correctly determined the width of the body - it should be one third of the height of the sheet.

Step 3

From the segment selected on the right, draw two lines to the left. Complete them with a vertical line and round the corners of the resulting rectangle - you will get a dolphin's tail.

Step 4

Dividing the line of the back in half, draw a dorsal fin. Make it narrower at the top. Mark the left flipper with a half oval, make the right one twice as wide and move it closer to the head of the animal.

Step 5

From the top of the nose, draw a line to the right, draw a small eye at this level. Part of the dolphin's body is under water, so its contours are visually distorted. To convey this effect, make the lines of the back and fins wavy.

Step 6

Start painting the drawing with a fill of the base color. To do this, dilute the azure paint with plenty of water and with a wide brush cover all the space of the sheet with wide strokes, except for the area of the dolphin's head that protrudes from the water.

Step 7

To paint the torso underwater, use a light gray color. Apply it immediately before the first coat of paint is dry. With a clean, wet brush, paint highlights on the dolphin, and then on the rest of the drawing, drawing wavy lines.

Step 8

Mix gray and blue colors, apply the resulting shade in a thicker layer closer to the tail and lighten, closer to the base of the flippers. In dark gray, paint shadows on the flippers, fin and along the dolphin's back. Paint the belly with a deep blue, the right fin and tail fin with dark blue.

Step 9

Paint the head of the animal gray, adding a little purple in the shadow on the right. Above, outline the head with a bright blue stripe - this is a reflex from the water. Leave a highlight near the eye.
