When knitting men's things - sweaters, pullovers, vests - the question inevitably arises before the craftswoman, which collar to choose. When choosing a model, do not forget to take into account the wishes of your man - perhaps he prefers a high collar-collar, or maybe he prefers stand-up collars or a buttoned placket.

It is necessary

  • - loose-knit men's sweater, pullover;
  • - yarn;
  • - circular or ordinary knitting needles;
  • - buttons.

Instructions

Step 1

If you decide to knit a collar, first connect the back and front parts together along the shoulder seams. Then, on circular or several ordinary knitting needles, cast loops along the neck of the front and back. Knit with 1x1 or 2x2 elastic until desired length is achieved.

Step 2

Another way to knit a cowl collar: without closing the front loops at the neck, continue to knit with an elastic band until the required length is reached. Likewise, when creating the back, continue to work without closing the neck until the collar reaches the desired length. Note that the collar will inevitably expand and become shorter when worn.

Step 3

When the front and back details are ready, sew them along the side and shoulder seams. Sew the halves of the collar very carefully, so that the seam is invisible from both the front and the wrong side. The best option is to connect the parts with knitting threads, using a crochet hook, knitting loops.

Step 4

Start knitting a collar with a placket when you create a front. To do this, 10-20 cm before the neckline, divide the knitting into two parts by adding two edge loops in the center. Continue to knit one in the pattern (left), and start the second each time with 7 garter stitches. Make buttonholes inside this placket.

Step 5

Having reached the required front height, arrange the neckline. Go back to the beginning of the cut and cast on 7 loops, on the wrong side of the piece, along the base of the plank. Work 7 stitches to the desired height.

Step 6

When the second half of the plank is ready, cast on the entire volume of the neck loops on the long knitting needles and tie the collar with a 1x1 or 2x2 elastic. Sew on the buttons.

Step 7

Try knitting a stand-up collar. Knit this part separately in this way: with a 1x1 or 2x2 elastic band, two or three centimeters, then 1 cm in knit. Tie two more rows with an auxiliary thread. Soak the stand, steam it and loosen the auxiliary thread.

Step 8

Using a stitching seam, connect the open hinges of the rack and the neckline, 1 cm from the edge. Then, from the inside out, sew the edge of the neckline to the rack with an inconspicuous seam. This line should line up with the starting line of the elastic.
