Lenok is a freshwater fish that lives in cold waters from the Ob to the Kolyma. These fish have a small head, thinned towards the front edge, which ends with a small mouth. The body is elongated with small, dense scales. The color depends on the habitat and can be dark gray or black, with numerous small pale red spots on the sides, which acquire a bright color during the spawning period, the belly is light. Fins are strong and well developed, with a yellow tint and pearlescent stripe. Lenok is a predatory fish, therefore, adults feed at any time (especially strong food in the morning and evening) on larvae of benthic insects, small mollusks, and worms.
Instructions
Step 1
Lenok is a cunning, cautious fish and it is very difficult to catch it. At a time, you can catch on the river, if you're lucky, no more than 4-5 fish.
As for the choice of the place of fishing, it is best to use calm currents or stagnant waters of bays, rifts. Due to the fact that this fish is practically not caught at depth, these will be ideal places.
Step 2
Due to the fact that lenok is a predatory fish, it is also advisable to use meat, worms, small frogs, fish fry, liver, etc. as bait. The most common and versatile is caddisfly bait, as it can be used when fishing for both small and large lenok. Its extraction is quite simple, and it can be used for a long time. They also use a bark beetle, but in these cases, when soldering the hook to the jig at an angle, the deviation from the line should be minimal. The most unusual bait is the "mouse" - a double or tee, shaped like a rodent made of non-sinking material, covered with fur on top.
Step 3
As for the tackle, as practice shows, it is recommended to use a fishing rod with a reel, and the use of a nod is simply necessary. Otherwise, due to the lack of oscillation of the lure, you can miss the bite signal. When fishing on wide rivers, given the speed of the current, a spinning rod with moderate guidance and small lures with a bright color will be suitable.
Step 4
There are many ways of fishing, and they depend on the period and place of fishing. If this is winter fishing, then first a hole is made or holes already drilled are used, which are thoroughly cleaned and covered with a cardboard with a cut hole on top. When "jumping out" of the nod, it is necessary to make a sweep after the first dash. The second will be weaker, since the lenok first pulls the line, and then somersaults without sharp jerks. It is very important here to pull the line quickly and without stopping, trying to bring it into the hole. It should be borne in mind that there may still be a jerk near the ice hole. Using the boat hook, we extract the catch from the water.
Step 5
Using fly fishing tactics, it is best to catch lenok during the summer. In this case, the bait should be in the form of a fish, heavy and rotating, which it is advisable to mask with an orange pad. On a summer night, lenok is best caught under the surface of the water, and during the day, in spring and autumn, exclusively at the bottom. Even the smallest detail can scare a fish away. When fishing from the shore, it is important to follow some rules: clothes should be of dull colors, all the tackle at hand to avoid unnecessary movements and, most importantly, to get to the fishing spot quietly and secretly. When the bait is captured, the actions further develop according to the already well-known scheme: the presence of jumps, somersaults, jerks, which does not last long. It remains only to bring the tired fish to the shore and enjoy the catch.
By following these tips, fishing will always be successful and enjoyable.
