Sometimes small pieces of natural fur remain in the house after sewing. You can not throw these pieces away, but make a baby hat out of them. For such a product, the fur does not have to be of the same color and dressing. You can successfully combine skins of different shades and pile lengths. A hood can be considered a classic model of a baby hat. It fits snugly to the head and covers the baby's ears well.

It is necessary

  • - natural fur;
  • - fabric for lining and insulation;
  • - needle, blade, thread.

Instructions

Step 1

Build a full-size pattern drawing on a sheet of paper according to the scheme. Please note that the diagram is shown for size 55 without seam allowances. Cut out the pattern. If you need to change the pattern one size, add 1 cm at the back of the head

Step 2

Prepare the skins for cutting. Smooth the surface of the skin by moistening the leather layer with a spray bottle. You can stretch the skin a little by pinning it to the board with studs or pins. The skin should be completely dry. Do not dry your fur in the sun or near heating appliances. This can damage the leather layer.

Step 3

Lay out the templates. Remove the dry skins and place them on the table, flesh side up. Consider the direction of the pile. In the hood, the fur should go from bottom to top. Or from the face to the back of the head. Place the paper pattern on the skin and circle it with a pen. If you will be sewing parts on a special furrier machine, then make allowances for the seams. If the skins are small, sew them together first to get the size you want.

Step 4

Open the fur. Do not use scissors to cut parts. They can damage the pile. It is best to cut with a sharp knife or razor blade, trying to cut only the leather layer. Fold the finished parts together with the fur inside.

Step 5

Sew the fur details with an “over the edge” or “cross” seam, bending the pile so as not to catch it in the seam. Do the darts first, and then the occipital seam. The frequency of stitches and the width of the seam depend on the thickness of the pelt. After sewing, straighten the seam and pull out all the pile from the front side with a needle.

Step 6

Complete the lining for the beanie. Using the patterns on the top, cut out the details of the lining from batting and lining fabric. Add 0.7-1cm seam allowances to the patterns. Sew the lining in the same sequence as for the fur details. Leave a small incision in the seam at the back of the head. Through it, the cap will be turned inside out. Gather the upper and lining together.

Step 7

Sew the edges of the cap with blind stitches along the lining, catching the wrong side of the fur. Turn the hat inside out and sew the opening in the lining by hand with blind stitches. Shake the finished hat, and comb the fur to make it fluffy.
