If you have a fantasy, it is quite easy to decorate a boring monochromatic thing, make children's clothes brighter and more attractive, or hide a small defect on the fabric. And this does not require a large investment of time and money. You can make a picture on clothes in different ways.
Instructions
Step 1
Never start decorating clothes if you don't know what you want to end up with. If necessary, draw a sketch on a piece of paper. Choose the right combination of colors for the future picture, which will be in harmony with the thing itself. Determine what you need for the job and prepare everything in advance. Threads, scissors, iron, additional decorative elements (buttons, beads, ribbons, etc.) - everything should be at hand.
Step 2
The easiest way to make a picture on clothes is to transfer a decal (sticker) or a decal to the fabric. If you choose a sticker, remember that it will withstand an average of twenty machine washes. The decal will last longer. To apply a sticker or decal, place the mock-up in the desired place, iron on top with a hot iron, remove the protective layer.
Step 3
Embroidery is another way to transfer an image to fabric. Draw a sketch of the future pattern on the fabric. Use a simple pencil for this. If you decide to draw the outline with something else, make sure you can erase the sketch later. Choose threads of suitable texture and colors. Decide on your embroidery technique. If necessary, use a stencil or ready-made instructions, which describe the technique and sewing order for each detail.
Step 4
If you are good at drawing, paint the image onto the fabric using acrylics. In the store, be sure to make sure that you buy paint specifically for the fabric, since acrylic is used for painting and other materials. If you are not very skilled with the brush, buy a stencil. After applying the paint, let the clothes lie down for a day, then iron the drawing with a hot iron through a thin cotton cloth. After two days, wash the thing in the washing machine, setting the gentle mode and the temperature no higher than 40 degrees.
Step 5
Applique is also a good way to make a picture on clothes. Find scraps of fabric that match the size and color, cut out the parts you want, or knit the pieces with a crochet or knitting needle. Sew the applique carefully, process the fabric sections, make sure the applique is securely attached and will not come off during washing or wearing. If necessary, decorate the applique with rhinestones, ribbons, feathers or other decorative elements.
