The concept of "woolen socks" has long and firmly been associated with the image of a grandmother, warmth, comfort and security. Since there are so many positive associations, you can not wait until your grandmother makes a new pair, but learn how to knit socks yourself.

It is necessary

Knitting needles, woolen threads (120-150 g), pin, tape measure

Instructions

Step 1

Measure the circumference of your leg at the ankle. The knit should be about 3 stitches per cm. Multiply this number (3) by the ankle girth. Round the resulting number to even (towards a larger one), it should ultimately be divisible by 4. according to such calculations, for example, 72 loops will be required per leg size 37, that is, 18 loops for each of the 4 knitting needles.

Step 2

Cast on this number of stitches on 2 knitting needles folded together. Pull one knitting needle from the connected row. Knit 18 loops with a tight 1x1 elastic band (one front, one purl). Next 18 stitches - new loose knitting needle. In this way, distribute all the loops over the four knitting needles, the fifth knitting needle remains working. Tie a thread of a different color to the loops of the first knitting needle or pin a pin so that later you do not get tangled. Tie the end of the thread with a knot with a working thread.

Step 3

Knit clockwise an elastic band (front, purl) 5 cm high. Knit the next 5 cm in stocking (1 row - front "grandmother's" loops, 2 - purl, etc.).

Step 4

To knit the heel, divide the entire fabric into 2 pieces and work with only 3 and 4 knitting needles. Knit loops 3 knitting needles on the fourth, knit heel height with stocking stitch. Finish this part with a row of front loops.

Step 5

To shape the heel, subtract the loops inside this area. Divide the number of stitches in the heel by 3 (add the stitches of the remainder when dividing to the central piece). Decrease the loops in this order: 1 row (purl) - purl, tie the loops of the side part, the central part (except for the last loop). Knit the last loop of the central part with the purl together with the adjacent loop of the second side part. Leave the rest of the loops of this side part unknitted. Flip the canvas over.

Step 6

The next row is front. Remove the edge loop and pull it to the knitting needle, knit all the loops of the central part, except for the last one. Knit this last loop of the middle of the heel with the front one together with the adjacent loop of the side part. Turn the knit over again. Continue knitting in this pattern until all of the side stitches are tied to the center stitches. The last row should be knit, and only the loops of the center of the heel will remain on the spoke.

Step 7

The part of the toe to the toe is knitted in a circle. With a knitting needle, on which, in the course of the work described in the previous paragraph, loops remained, dial the loops on the front side from the edge loops of the heel - one front from each edge.

Step 8

With a free knitting needle, knit this number of loops (we got 10 of them), knit on the first knitting needle, with the other knitting needle - the same number on the second. With a free knitting needle, cast on 10 more loops from the edge of the knit and use it to knit half of the loops of the remaining center of the heel. As a result, there are fewer loops on 1 and 2 knitting needles than on 3 and 4. Continue to knit the sock in a circle, knitting two extra loops together on 3 and 4 knitting needles - purl after 2 circles. When the number of loops on each knitting needle is the same, the decrease can be stopped.

Step 9

When you tie the toe to the base of your toes, begin to pull the toe down. To do this, knit 2 loops together with the purl at the end of each knitting needle. When one loop remains on the knitting needles, cut the thread (with a margin) and thread it into the loops, pull it into the sock with a hook and fasten it.
