Step 1
Choose napkins from which you will cut snowflakes. The structure of the paper should not be too loose, otherwise the slots will have ragged edges. If the napkin is double-layered, you should make sure that the layers do not separate too easily from each other, otherwise parts of the finished snowflake may tangle. In addition, plain paper should be preferred.
Step 2
Prepare paper material. Place the napkin folded in a square in front of you so that the corner formed by the fold is directed towards you. Fold it diagonally into a 45-degree triangle, making sure that the two adjacent sides of the square completely coincide. After that, you need to fold the napkin along again. As a result, you should have an elongated triangle with an angle of 22.5 degrees. Please note that one of the sides forming an acute angle is longer than the other; along this fold, you can arrange long rays of snowflakes.
Step 3
Find on the Internet schemes for cutting paper snowflakes. Currently, there is a whole trend in the art of paper plastic to create openwork crystals, so any search engine will give a large number of links with pictures. They are triangles with marked contour lines along which you need to make cuts. Circle your workpiece on thick paper, redraw the cutting lines from the diagram on it. Pictures can be printed, the main thing is to comply with the scale. Make slits along the lines on the stencil.
Step 4
Place the stencil on the napkin blank so that all sides and corners match. Circle the resulting bends, cut out. Spread out the snowflake. Some details may not be the same because the napkin has been folded several times, so you can bring the decoration to perfection by carefully enlarging the slots that are not large enough. To get the finished snowflake, place it under a press or iron it with a warm iron, this will straighten the folds.
