A strict black top hat, a perky bowler hat or an airy lady's hat made of cardboard is the simplest way out when they are needed for a carnival or an amateur performance.
It is necessary
- - 2-3 sheets of thick cardboard (A3);
- - thin cloth;
- - construction tape;
- - dispersion PVA glue;
- - glue brushes;
- - scissors;
- - paper knife.
Instructions
Step 1
Measure the volume of your head: Take a long, rectangular piece of paper, wrap it around your head, and secure the paper with a stapler or tape. Take a piece of cardboard, place a blank from a strip of paper in the middle and circle it along the outside. Circle the first circle with an indented circle, the size of which depends on how wide the brim of your hat will be.
Step 2
Cut off the excess cardboard with a paper knife, cut a small circle in the middle to make a ring with wide margins. Make a second, exactly the same blank. These will be the brim of the hat.
Step 3
Cut a rectangular strip of cardboard, the length of the short sides depends on how tall the hat you want. Make indents of 1.5-2 centimeters on each long side, bend them, make cuts on them every 2-3 centimeters.
Step 4
Roll the rectangle into a cylinder and try on to the base ring. With bent cuts, it is necessary to hook the base from the inside. Don't glue the cylinder, just check the diameter and set it aside.
Step 5
Take a piece of fabric, cover the ring with it, smooth the fabric so that there are no folds, cut off excess fabric around the ring and in the hole, but be sure to leave 2 centimeter allowances. Make cuts on the inside and outside allowances at regular intervals.
Step 6
Apply glue to the outer and inner edges of the ring and fold the cuts by gluing them to the glue-coated cardboard. You will get a ring draped with fabric on one side. Grease the previously set aside cardboard strip with glue, glue a piece of fabric on it, cut off the excess, leaving allowances of 2 centimeters.
Step 7
Roll the cardboard into a cylinder and glue. Place it on a piece of cardboard, circle along the outside, cut out the resulting circle - this will be the bottom of the hat. Place the ring with the fabric side up, take the cylinder, insert it into the hole, bend the notched allowances inward so that the ring rests on them.
Step 8
Glue the cylinder to the ring neatly, glue the inside of the ring around the hole (so that the folded allowances stick to the non-draped side of the ring). Stick a cloth on the bottom of the hat, cut off the excess, leaving allowances of 1-2 centimeters.
Step 9
Make cuts in the allowance around the entire circumference. Lubricate the inside of the bottom with glue, bend the cuts inward so that they stick. Grease the inside of the bottom with glue and glue it on top, on the bent allowances of the cylinder.
Step 10
Tape the joints with construction tape to make the hat stronger. Take the second ring-field, drape with a cloth in the same way as the first. Lay the cloth down, brush the cardboard side with glue and place the hat on it, press down firmly.
