Many families still have old sewing machines, released more than half a century ago. Unlike many modern models, these sewing machines have been sewing properly for decades and require little or no complicated and expensive repairs. However, in order for the machine to please you with high-quality work for a long time, it must be properly looked after and repaired in time.
Instructions
Step 1
If a fabric closed in a ring is sewn to the waist of the machine, cut it off - you will not need it, and the needles stuck into such a fabric leave ugly scratches on the surface of the machine. Throw away all old, bent, dull and used needles as using them could damage the machine.
Step 2
Disassemble the sewing machine, remove the stitch plate, covers from it, disassemble the hook, and then use a needle and tweezers to clean the surface under the stitch plate from a mixture of old dust and lint mixed with machine oil. Use a thick needle to clean the teeth that move the fabric over the stitch plate.
Step 3
After that, take kerosene and clean the shuttle from the thickened oil and fluff. You can also clean the hook with a knife.
Step 4
When the dirt has been removed, take out a disposable syringe with a thick needle and a bottle of special household sewing machine lubricating oil. You will see several technological holes in the body of the sewing machine
Step 5
Use a syringe to put 3-4 drops of oil into each hole, then put the same amount of oil into the holes of the needle bar and the presser foot, and then lubricate the bobbin winding. Lay the machine on its side with the mechanism open. Lubricate the inside of the machine, then turn the handle of the machine to distribute oil to all parts.
Step 6
See how the washer is installed in the friction device. The washer should be positioned with the tabs facing outward. If the washer was not positioned correctly, install it correctly and then tighten the friction and stop screws. By taking proper care of your sewing machine and lubricating it from time to time, you will ensure its durability and proper operation.
Step 7
To prevent the machine from being exposed to negative influences of the external environment, do not store it in humid and too hot rooms.
