A knitted vest will not only keep you warm in cold weather, but can be a worthy decoration for your wardrobe. It can be worn with trousers and a skirt, worn under a strict jacket. In short, it is one of the versatile pieces of clothing that can be used in almost any situation. True, for this, the vest must first of all be neatly knitted. And a lot depends on the beginning.
It is necessary
- - yarn;
- - 2 pairs of knitting needles; for basic knitting and for elastic, one number less;
- - pattern.
Instructions
Step 1
The vest can be knitted without a pattern. But if you do not have enough experience yet, it is better to draw it and calculate the loops on it. The loops must be counted for finishing knitting (as a rule, this is an elastic band, but there can be any other dense pattern) and for the main one. Link two samples. If necessary, steam them off. Elastic band and other embossed patterns are not steamed. Count the loops of the sample and divide the result by the number of centimeters.
Step 2
The knit should fit all parts of the body equally well. Therefore, the calculation of the required number of loops comes from the widest part. The number of loops for a long vest is usually done along the hip line as this is the largest measurement. But there are also exceptions. If the chest is very full and the hips are narrow, then take the chest line as a basis.
Step 3
The vest can be knitted from two or three pieces, or with a continuous fabric to the armholes. If you knit it in the manner of a sleeveless jacket only from the shelf and back, dial the number of loops strictly according to the calculation. If the vest has a fastener, then subtract half the width of the fastener from the width of the shelf. This must be done regardless of whether your product will consist of three parts or you are going to knit it with a solid fabric. In the second case, mark the lines connecting the shelves and back. It is better to do this as soon as you start typing loops. Dial as much as needed for half of the shelf, minus half of the plank. Tie the knot with a different color of thread. Cast on the loops for the back and also tie a knot, then pick up the remaining loops.
Step 4
You can start knitting with a 1x1 or 2x2 elastic band, a double elastic band. In the latter case, cast on twice as many loops as needed. This option is good for short, fitted vests. Knit the elastic with knitting needles one number less than the rest of the product. In this case, it will keep its shape better. How high the elastic will be depends on the style. For a long vest, it can be very short, five centimeters. If the vest is up to the waist or slightly lower, you can make it longer, almost to the very armholes.
Step 5
It is best to tie the bar after completing the largest parts. A buckle with a cross bar looks better on a vest. Exceptions are possible though. The vest can be zipped or lace-up. In this case, it is necessary to dial the number of loops strictly according to the calculation. Leave the holes immediately for lacing. If the vest is thin, you can simply make yarn overs in the right places, knitting two loops in front of them or after them. If the knitting is tight, and you are not going to do the plank, then close 2-3 loops at the places of the loops and pick them up in the next row.
