Stencils allow you to decorate your apartment artistically, even for those who have never been given drawing. To make a stencil with your own hands, you need to think over all the details from the drawing to the material to which it will be transferred.
It is necessary

- - landscape paper;
- - paper for lamination, thick cardboard or linoleum;
- - scotch tape;
- - stationery knife.
Instructions
Step 1
Select a pattern for the stencil. The subject matter can be very diverse, but it is worth considering where the image will be placed: on a window glass, a kitchen cabinet door, a car hood or an outer wall of a country house. The scope of application of stencils is unusually wide: ready-made drawings can be found on specialized sites dedicated to airbrushing, graffiti or home handicrafts. You can translate your favorite image from a book or album using carbon paper. Having decided to draw a stencil yourself, remember that all lines should be closed, and the drawing should be divided into sectors, which will then be filled with paint. The smaller the stencil, the larger and clearer its details.
Step 2
Find the right moisture resistant stencil material. It can be thin plastic or lamination paper. If you need to make a stencil that will be used often, use thick cardboard with no cavities inside. Such cardboard is also used for packaging refrigerators and other household appliances. After reusable use, it will be coated with several layers of paint, making it hard but brittle. Therefore, cardboard is more convenient to use for translating small drawings, when the stencil is not too large and does not need to be folded. For large-area images, it is best to use linoleum. It is not very convenient to apply a drawing on it, but the finished product can always be rolled up.
Step 3
Transfer the stencil to paper or cardboard. If you have chosen paper for lamination, you will need carbon paper. There is another way: attach a drawing and a stencil blank to the window pane. Be careful not to scratch. If you are using thick cardboard or linoleum, first cut the stencil out of regular landscape paper, and then attach and carefully transfer to the material of your choice.
Step 4
Cut through all the parts of the stencil. It is most convenient to use not scissors, but a stationery knife with a sharp blade. Be especially careful with small details. When working with cardboard and linoleum, do not leave jags and "burrs": they will make the drawing look messy.
