An A-line dress is a great piece of affordable fashion. It is not difficult to create it with your own hands, even for those who have little experience in this matter. First you need to make the correct pattern, after which you can start sewing itself.
Pattern
The pattern of any dress is modeled on the basis of the base pattern. To do this, you first need to take measurements, make increments to them and transfer all dimensions to paper. To correctly make a pattern for the back of a trapezoidal dress, you need to get rid of the tackle tuck, expand it by two centimeters and deepen the neckline of the back by one centimeter. The side should be flared by seven centimeters. Next, draw a new seam line on the side.
The front pattern is based on a closed chest dart and transferring it to the side seam. The resulting dart should be shortened by one and a half centimeters. The tuck is retracted, and a seven centimeter flare is done on the side. The single-seam sleeve pattern is shortened to the elbow line. As a result, it turns out that from the main fabric it is necessary to cut out the front of the dress (1 part with a fold), the back of the dress (1 part with a fold), a sleeve (2 parts), a facing of the front neckline (1 part with a fold), a facing of the dorsal neck (2 parts) and seam allowances (one and a half centimeters, and three centimeters on the bottom).
Sewing an A-line dress
In order to sew an A-line dress, you need to make a zipper on the back. To do this, take a strip of thin thermal fabric, the width of which is one and a half centimeters, and strengthen the place for the fastener with it. It is also important to place a frame under the zipper, while the width and length will be equal to the teeth. After that, a frame is cut in the center from the neck of the back, in the corners this is done obliquely. Now you can put a zipper under the frame so that the teeth remain in sight. From the front side, it should be swept and stitched. Then you need to start the chest darts. They should be swept away and then machine-finished on the front of the dress. The allowances are ironed down. You need to remember about an easy fit on the sides, you should sweep the sleeves into the armholes.
Now you can proceed to processing the neck. First, it must be duplicated with thermal fabric, and then sewn along the shoulder seams. The next step is to put the neck on the cutout, cut off the allowances, and turn out the piping. It remains only to cleanly sweep and iron. You can sweep them to the shoulder seams with several stitches. Then tuck the short sides of the back piping and sweep the zippers to the braids with your hands. The last steps are the allowances at the bottom of the dress and at the bottom of the sleeves, they need to be tucked up and hemmed by hand. A-line dress is ready!
