As you know, the stork brings children. And it just so happened that the child lies in an envelope like a gift. A store-bought envelope will not be as beautiful or unique as one that you make yourself. And it is not difficult to sew it. You can make an envelope from any fabric you like, and it is usually trimmed with ribbons or lace.

It is necessary

  • Satin fabric 130 cm
  • Flannel
  • Batting 130x70 cm
  • Lace 4 m
  • Satin ribbon 120 cm
  • Cotton fabric 130 cm
  • Braid 60 cm

Instructions

Step 1

Sew the rounded top envelope mattress first. Its size is 120x35 cm. The pattern can be downloaded from the Internet or made by hand: 35 cm - width, 120 cm - length, round the upper part, remove 4.5 cm from the corners (the envelope can be a corner or any other shape) … The pattern is ready.

Step 2

Using the finished pattern, cut out a layer of batting and a layer of cotton fabric. Fold the batting and fabric together and sew to create a stitch. Your mattress may shrink slightly when stitching.

Step 3

Cut out the second layer of cotton fabric according to the size of the resulting product. Connect the new piece to the mattress blank with the right sides facing each other and sew along the edge. Remember to leave a small hole so you can turn the product out. After the product is turned out, the hole must be sewn up by hand. The envelope mattress is ready.

Step 4

We make a pattern of small envelope parts 20 cm wide and 50 cm long, we get a rectangle. If you want to sew a festive envelope on ribbons, round one corner of the rectangle by 1, 5 - 3, 5 cm, if the zipper is more convenient, leave sharp corners.

Step 5

We pass directly to the pattern of details from satin and flannel. In this case, the satin piece should be 1 cm longer than the flannel piece. Please note that you should get 2 satin pieces and 2 flannel pieces each, which are arranged symmetrically to each other.

Step 6

Take a lace ribbon and baste it over the satin piece, folding 5 mm deep folds every 5 cm. Leave the last 1.5 cm from the bottom free. Fold back the side cut of the lace 45 degrees and pin it to the cut of the satin piece.

Step 7

Cut the satin ribbon into 4 equal pieces and pin or baste two pieces to each satin piece between the satin and the lace. One should be 8 cm from the bottom edge, and the other 20 cm higher. The edges of the tape should also face inward. Sew everything together 7 mm from the edge. Then iron the seam carefully.

Step 8

Baste and stitch the flannel piece to the satin piece so that the laces are between them, iron the seam. Then fold back the pieces so that the front side of the flannel is in contact with the front side of the satin one and sew over the existing stitching. Next, make notches on the allowances and turn out each finished part, then iron them.

Step 9

Cut out a large piece of satin, the same size as the mattress, but 10 cm longer. Baste the lace ribbon at the top of the envelope, remembering to pick up the lace.

Step 10

Step 25 cm from the top of the envelope and baste two small pieces towards the bottom of the envelope.

Step 11

Cut out from the satin a semicircular piece of envelope 40 cm long from the highest point of the semicircle, and from the flannel cut out a square with a side of 35 cm. Sew them together on the straight sides so that the seam is on the wrong side.

Step 12

Cut out a flannel rectangle 55x35 cm in size. Please note that this part must be cut out with the short side along the shared thread. Stitch the flannel piece with the short side to the underside of the large satin piece and remember to iron the seam.

Step 13

Along the line, 10 cm above this seam, bend part of the part up and pin the strings from a simple braid at the corners of the fold. At the same time, the ties should be turned inward. Baste the folded part to the large part along the side cuts.

Step 14

Next, lay the small satin-flannel piece over the large satin piece with the right sides facing each other. The details should be overlapped, due to which a pocket should form. Sew along the lace sewing line and overlock or zigzag the seams. Next, turn the product out in the usual way, after which you should get a pocket into which you need to insert a mattress.

Step 15

If you decide to make an envelope with a zipper, then first of all you need to sew it into the small halves. In this case, there should be no jewelry between the two small halves
