The recorder is a magical instrument. He resembles the Middle Ages j, wood elves and the gammel rat-catcher. Its sound is similar either to the chime of the wind, or to the singing of birds. Anyone can learn to play it, it will not take so much time.

Step 1
Choose a suitable flute. Recorders vary in material, tone and fingering. Recorders are most often made of plastic or wood. There is no fundamental difference, both are suitable for training. But the pros are confident that wood flutes have a better, softer and warmer sound. But they are, accordingly, more expensive. By tone, the flutes are divided by sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor and bass. The most common flutes are sopranos. The lowest sound of such a flute is the C note of the first octave. These are the flutes that are best suited for learning to play. The flute can be played in the English or German system. There is not much difference between them, but a beginner musician should know which system his flute belongs to.
Step 2
Learn to hold the flute correctly. The left hand should be on top - the index finger should cover the upper hole, the big one should cover the hole on the back of the flute. The middle and ring fingers should cover the second and third holes from the top, and the little finger should be free. The fingers of the right hand should cover the rest of the holes, and the thumb of the right hand holds the flute from below.
Step 3
Learn to make sound. Sounding on a recorder is much easier than on a transverse one - you simply blow into the whistle, covering the holes, and the sound is extracted. Try to extract the lowest sound. To do this, close all openings with your fingers and blow in air. Try to make the sound you get smooth, not break down. Then open the lowest hole and do the same. In this way, you will gradually learn all the sounds that your flute is capable of making.
Step 4
Learn the fingering patterns of the flute. Looking at the pictures, remember which holes correspond to which notes. Later you can play simple melodies from the notes. As you train and improve, you may soon learn to improvise as well.
