As you know, you can crochet real masterpieces. Craftsmen create knitting patterns not only for napkins, toys and other little things. You can even crochet a blanket. But, despite the large amount of work, novice needlewomen can cope with it.

It is necessary

  • - hook number 4-5 (depending on the thickness of the selected yarn);
  • - yarn.

Instructions

Step 1

First you need to determine the size of the bedspread that you need to knit. Measure your sofa, bed or stroller, i.e. the item or furniture for which you will knit the bedspread. Write down the results.

Step 2

After determining the sizes, you can choose a knitting pattern. Almost always, bedspreads are not knitted as a solid product, but from separate fragments, connected in the same pattern. In knitting magazines and on the Internet, you can find a sufficient number of such patterns, so it will not be difficult to find them. Basically, the connected fragment has a square shape with a side of 10-20 cm, but there are also quite original fragments of irregular shape. Which one to choose is already your task. But if you are just starting to master the crochet technique, then you should not immediately swing at complex elements so that you can finish the work to the end.

Step 3

Find the yarn for the bedspread. When choosing, be guided by the purpose for which you will use the bedspread - this will also help you determine the color and quality of the threads, because with a large number of washes, some types of yarn may lose their color and properties, shrink or, on the contrary, stretch. If the bedspread is a decorative piece of the interior, then you can knit from cotton. A bedspread for a child can be knitted from acrylic, the care of which does not cause many problems. Use wool to keep the garment warm. Just keep in mind that this material is not recommended to be washed too often.

Step 4

Before starting work, try knitting one piece with the same yarn you will be using to make the entire bedspread. This will help you not only estimate how your bedspread will look, but you can also roughly calculate the required amount of yarn. Indeed, depending on the density with which you knit and on the yarn, the knitted fragment may differ from the photograph of the finished product.

Step 5

As soon as everything is ready for knitting, you can start working. Based on the desired dimensions of the product and the size of one piece, calculate how many pieces you need to tie. When the fragments are ready, you can start assembling the bedspread. The elements need to be sewn with the same yarn from which they are knitted. Along the edge of the bedspread, you can trim it with braid or make a fringe.
