Curtains in the house are an important decor. It often happens that the hostess of the house did not find suitable ones in the store and bought fabric to sew them to order, or initially purchased unfinished curtains. But the raw edges give the entire curtain an untidy look, which means they spoil the overall interior of the house. Therefore, they must be hemmed.

Step 1
Before you start hemming the curtains, you need to let it hang for a few days before doing this. So you can see its real length. The processing of the edges of the curtains is carried out carefully, guided by the type of fabric with which you have to work. Because exactly what fabric is used influences the way of hemming. For example, a double hem helps the curtain hang evenly and beautifully. But for curtains with a gasket, this option for processing the edges is not suitable.
Step 2
To avoid attracting extra attention to the stitches resulting from hemming, you need to process them by hand, with a needle capturing only one thread of the main fabric.
Step 3
To simplify your life and not use threads and needles when folding the edges of curtains, you can use adhesive tape. Its principle of operation is very simple: turn the fabric, put a tape between the layers and iron it from the outside of the product with a heated iron. The glue on the tape from the high temperature will melt and gently glue together parts of the fabric, leaving no traces from punctures with a needle.
Step 4
You can also hem the edge of the curtain with a border. Carefully cut either a long strip of fabric (large enough to cover the entire width of the curtain) or use tape or frills. If you are hemming with a simple hem, then fold the fabric strip in half and fold the edges. Place the edge of the curtain between them and stitch everything. If you want (and the curtains allow), you can hide the raw edge of the fabric under a frill. Place it just above the bottom line of the curtain and stitch it in.
