Step 1
Sew the edges of the diaper with a regular stitch. To do this, fold the edge of the fabric twice so that the cut is inside the fold. Use a basting stitch for comfort, or iron the edge of the garment. Stitch 1-2 mm back from the fold line. Secure the threads, fold the edge on the adjacent side.
Step 2
Use a zigzag stitch if your sewing machine has one. Place the needle at a distance of 3-4 mm from the edge, process the product around the perimeter. If the seam is too deep, cut off the unsecured fabric. Use cotton threads for processing, they are not as strong as synthetic ones, but they will not chafe the baby's delicate skin and will not cause allergies.
Step 3
Decorate the diaper by hand, it will take much longer, but it will give a lot of positive emotions. Use a buttonhole stitch for processing. Insert the thread on the right side, stepping back from the edge of 3-4 mm, from the seamy side near the beginning of the work, pierce the fabric again, tighten the needle so that it enters the formed loop. You will have the first column. Sew the entire perimeter of the diaper in this way. For decoration, you can use colored floss threads, you can work in 2, 4 or 6 additions. Try to make small knots.
Step 4
Purchase a sufficient amount of bias tape at a needlewoman store, it is a tape folded along its entire length. Place the edge of the diaper into the fold of the tape, and basting around the perimeter. For convenience, you can round the edges of the material, the inlay is cut out obliquely, so it stretches perfectly, with its help it is easy to process bends. Bend the end of the tape and overlap. Step 1-2 mm from the inner edge of the tape and sew a regular seam on the sewing machine. Such a product may not be very practical for swaddling, but it looks good, you can take it for examination at the clinic or put it under the head of a newborn in case of regurgitation.
