A special fabric for embroidery, canvas, is very convenient, as it allows you to clearly see the boundaries of each cross, but at the same time it easily crumbles and frizzes. Take the time and make your work more accurate - finish the edges of the canvas before embroidering.
It is necessary

Instructions
Step 1
If you have a little time, fold the edge twice and sew it by hand. You can fold the edge much faster with a sewing machine. In addition, the hem can be overcast by hand using an overlock or a zigzag seam on a sewing machine.
Step 2
If the edges of the work will not be further hidden under a mat or frame, process them with a bias inlay of a suitable color. Unfold the tape and sew along the inside of one of the folds, 0.5 cm from the edge. Then wrap the tape around the edge of the canvas, iron and sew on the other side, 1mm from the fold of the bias tape.
Step 3
In order not to waste a lot of time, use glue. It is best to use a special fabric glue, it does not wash off during washing, does not leave marks and can only be removed with alcohol.
Step 4
Apply the adhesive gently in a thin strip. The disadvantage of some types of fabric glue is that the edge of the canvas becomes stiff, so glue no more than 2-3 threads. A cheaper option is regular PVA glue, stationery glue stick or clear nail polish, but learn that it can peel off, and you will have to reapply the layer.
Step 5
Try glueing the edges of your embroidery canvas with paper tape for pasting windows, fabric roll-on adhesive tape, or regular office tape. Note that on some types of canvas, the tape does not hold, in addition, it is difficult to tuck the glued edge into the hoop.
Step 6
Buy an adhesive fabric such as non-woven, dublerin, or spiderweb from a store, cut a narrow strip and attach to the edges of the canvas. Iron with a hot iron - the glue fabric will firmly fix and prevent the fibers from separating. It is also very convenient to use such a fabric to process all the embroidery from the inside out after finishing work.
Step 7
The method is not for the lazy - embroider along the edge of the work a strip of crosses of the same color. Such fixation of the canvas edges is especially suitable when embroidering towels, handkerchiefs and other household items.
