Dario Grandinetti is an Argentinean theater, film and television actor. Winner of the Emmy Award for Best Actor in Television and the Silver Shell Award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival.
The actor has repeatedly worked with famous directors, including P. Almodovar, A. Doria. Dario's creative biography began with performances on the theater stage. The performer came to the cinema in the early 1980s. He played his first roles in popular Argentinean TV series.

Biography facts
Dario was born in the spring of 1959 in Argentina. He spent all his childhood in the city of Rosario. When the young man was 17 years old, the family moved to the small town of Las Rozas. They lived there for several months, and then returned.
Since childhood, Dario was very fond of football. He attended sports school and played for one of the local teenage teams owned by Club Atlético Newell's Old Boys. But Grandinetti did not build a sports career, although he remained a passionate football fan.
The boy's father worked for the grain harvesting company La Junta Nacional de Granos. Dario, having received his secondary education, also worked for this company for some time. But, carried away by creativity and theater, he decided to devote his further life to art. He went to Buenos Aires, where he began to attend acting classes.
Creative way
For some time Dario worked in the theater, and then decided to try himself as a film actor.
The debut on the screen took place at Grandinetti in 1980. He played a small role in the Argentine melodrama series Senorita Andrea directed by Nicolas Del Boca.
This was followed by work in television projects and films: "The Legacy of Love", "Realize", "Like Us", "Waiting for Transportation", "Risk Decision", "A Hundred Times Not", "Gold and Dirt".
In 1992, the comedy melodrama The Dark Side of the Heart, directed by Elisio Subiel, was released, in which Dario played the main role.
The film tells about the young poet Oliveiro, who is looking for his one and only woman who can fly. He meets many girls, but none of them is the embodiment of his dreams. One day he meets Anna, a working prostitute, and falls in love with her. Now he has to decide whether this is true love or just a fleeting passion. Oliveiro is relentlessly followed by Death, secretly in love with the poet. But after he met Anna, she realizes that a man will never belong to her, because love is always stronger than death.
The film applied to be included in the list of nominees for the "Oscar", but the representatives of the film academy rejected the application. The film was shown at the Cuban and Brazilian film festivals, where it earned high marks from viewers and film critics.
In 1995, Grandinetti played the central role in the fantastic melodrama Don't Die Without Telling Where You Are Going. Then he played in the popular Argentinean TV series "Children", which tells about children from the orphanage "Corner of Light".
In the drama "Tango for Two" directed by J. Chavarre, the actor again got the main role and won the Argentine Film Critics Association prize.
One of the central roles was given to Grandinetti in Pedro Almodovar's "Talk to Her". Javier Camara and Leonor Watling became his partners on the set.
The main character of the film, journalist Marko, is looking for an interesting plot for a new article. He meets an amazing female bullfighter Lydia and falls in love with her. But all hopes for a happy future are dashed when Lydia is hit by an angry bull in a bullfight. She miraculously remains alive, but falls into a coma. At the hospital, Marco meets Benigno, who is caring for Alicia, his beloved girl who has not come to her senses for several years. He helps Marco through difficult moments and instills in him faith in a miracle.
The film won an Oscar for Best Screenplay, as well as Golden Globe, British Academy and Cesar Awards for Best Foreign Film.

Dario has been married twice. The first chosen one was the artist Eulalia Lombarta Lorca. They got married in 1989 and lived together for 3 years. In this union, two children were born: Maria Eulalia and Juan.
The second wife was the former model and actress Marisa Mondino. The wedding took place on April 7, 1995. A year later, a daughter, Lucia, was born in the family. The girl was diagnosed with a congenital disease that could not be cured. The child died in 1997. Then the second daughter of Dario and Marisa, Laura, was born. As a result, this marriage was short-lived. In 2006, the couple broke up.
Since 2016, Grandinetti has been dating Spanish actress Pastor Vega.
