For a long time, peoples living in nomadic conditions have used portable plagues as dwellings. These structures are made up of dozens of wooden poles covered with layers of suitable materials such as deer hide, rough cloth, and tree branches.

Instructions
Step 1
The amount of materials needed to build it depends on the estimated size of the future plague. To build an average capacity, you will need about thirty poles. A pole is called a smooth, thin trunk of a tree, without branches and twigs. The length of the poles also matters when creating a plague. The longer the poles, the more people can be in it at the same time.
Step 2
Collect the correct number of tree trunks with suitable properties. The optimal length of the pole for a medium chum is four meters. Do not take too thick trunks. A thickness of 8-9 centimeters will be enough. Use a well-sharpened knife or ax to shave off the poles, removing all protruding elements.
Step 3
Take three poles and tie the top ends with rope or wire. Set up the resulting tripod in the chosen location. It will serve as a frame for the rest of the poles. Three braces can be additionally attached to the tripod. These are small bars that are attached perpendicular to the poles. Subsequently, a kettle with food is hung behind them.
Step 4
Gradually attach the remaining poles to the fixed frame. Spread them out evenly, one at a time. The optimal distance between the poles is three tens of centimeters. In the area where the entrance will be, make the distance larger. Lean the top end of each pole against a tripod. Examine the resulting structure. It should be in the shape of a cone.
Step 5
After all the poles are in place, cover the chum with additional reinforcing materials. The most convenient option is to cover the frame with a tarpaulin cloth. But in the absence of a tarp, you can use a more laborious method. You will have to collect enough natural material. Braid the poles with a large number of flexible branches, and then cover the chum with layers of spruce branches or bark.
Step 6
Set up a fireplace in the middle of the chum. Dig a shallow hole for it and surround it with a low earthen roller. Be sure to leave a small hole at the top of the chum. Through it, the smoke from the fire will be able to go outside.
