Several years ago stilts were a favorite pastime for children of all ages - almost every child knew how to walk on stilts, which can be made in a couple of hours in a home workshop. Today the popularity of stilts is gradually dwindling, but you can bring it back by making stilts for yourself or your children and learning how to walk on them.

It is necessary

  • - 2 beams,
  • - 2 boards,
  • - bolts, nuts, washers.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare materials for stilts - you will need two beams 50x50 mm in cross section and about 2 meters long, made of strong wood without knots and cracks, as well as two small boards 60 cm long and 50x100 mm in cross section. You will need four bolts, nuts and washers to screw on the fasteners.

Step 2

Process the beams and prepare them for work - sand and cover with any wood impregnation. Take a board 60 cm long and, having previously drawn a line on it at an angle of 45 degrees, saw it along this line into two equal parts.

Step 3

Sand the cuts with sandpaper. Then mark a point 30 cm above the ground on each of the two-meter blocks - this point will be the place where the footrests are attached. If you have never walked on stilts, a height of 30 cm will be enough to learn how to walk.

Step 4

Drill two holes in each bar, and then screw the support bar with two bolts to each bar. The long side of the bar should rest against the main bar, and the beveled side should be outside and down.

Step 5

On each side, put wide and strong metal washers on the bolt, and to adjust the fastening, use the lug nuts, which can be easily unscrewed and tightened with your own hands, without using a wrench.

Step 6

Screw the supports onto both beams at the same height, and then try to stand on stilts and take a few steps. When you learn to walk at low heights, you can drill new holes in the bars and raise the supports higher.
