Salsa is a social dance. Its main goal is communication. This is why salsa is considered an improvisational dance. It does not have a strictly defined sequence of steps. There is only a basic set of elements that anyone can structure as they like.
Instructions
Step 1
Remember that the basis of salsa, like any other Latin American dance, is the steps. In this art form, all movements are subordinated to the rhythm of 4. That is, exactly 4 step will be accentuated. They are performed quite simply. For steps forward, first put your foot on the toe, then on the ball of the foot, then smoothly on the entire sole. Also, the last part can be replaced by placing the foot on the heel. The main thing is to do it on a count of four. It all looks like walking to the music. However, the main difference between dancing and walking is that everything must be done very harmoniously. Strictly observe the following rule: when performing any movement, put your foot on the floor with your toe out. But by no means inside. Otherwise, the dance will lose its elegance. And you run the risk of crushing your partner's legs.
Step 2
If you want to dance salsa in pairs, then know that in partner performance, a man leads, a woman decorates. Therefore, the partner's task is to follow her beau. After all, salsa is a flirting dance, a dance of passion. Therefore, the movements must be honed, but at the same time literally weightless.
Step 3
To learn how to dance salsa, you must first learn to move your hips beautifully. One might even say that this must be done very elegantly. Because the whole dance is based on the movement of the body, and it is the legs and hips that set the main pace.
Step 4
It is best to learn the art of Latin American dancing in the right clothes and shoes. For women, the ideal option would be a wide skirt; for men, it is better to study in stylish trousers and a shirt. As for shoes, it is best to choose one that has a small but stable heel. This rule is true for both women and men.
